The Rocket's red glare comes back to the mound.

Roger Clemens pitched for the 'Stro's Thursday night. It was his first game of the year, not counting the tune-up he had this week in triple-A. He only worked 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and two runs in the loss. The Rocket is getting long in the tooth,he's 43..

A pitcher going 5 at 43 years of age? WTF? Ol' Rog can't give it up, he threw 100 pitches, 59 for strikes. He's like an old junk yard dog. Still has the bark, some bite left..but he has to use it wisely. He's still a commanding figure on the pitchers mound, one of the greatest pitchers to ever play the game.

He got a standing-O each time he ended an inning and walked toward the dugout...and deservedly so. It was a home game at Orange Juice Park..aka Minute Maid. even Babs Bush was there..you know..the Shrub's mommy.

The 'Stro's are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. I know, there is half a season left. This is the time of the year that you start watching the leaderboard for each division. Figuring out who's got it made in first, and who's contending for that all-hallowed "wild card" spot. The Cardinals always give the 'Stro's a run for their money in the NL Central and with Albert Pujols..aka the God of Baseball coming back from the DL soon, it doesn't bode well for the Stro's to get first place..that wild card looks inviting though.I always enjoy watching Clemens pitch, he is afterall, a power pitcher.

He's making 12 Million to pitch half a season..hot damn, thats lots of cash for half the effort of the rest of the league. Think he's worth it?

If he can pitch up and in..he will be worth every penny to the 'Stro's. And Roger Clemens will have kept father time at bay for one more season.

Screw Clemens... sorry, but I've never liked the guy; not when he was in college, with the Sawx, Jays, Yank$, never. OK, enough vitriol on my part...

Pujols coming back this soon smacks of a panic move on the Cardinals part, IMO. Plus, in the past, they've been known to interpret medical data to fit their own agenda(Woody Williams, Scott Rolen, for example). I just hope this doesn't come back to bite them in their collective asses.

You do forget how old Clemens is, until you see a flashback on TV of how skinny he was when he K'ed 20 in 86.

I don't mind Clemens, except the years he sucked off the Yankee cock, jusy like his old buddy Wade Boggs.

roger played tom hicks for three contracts! first toronto, then the yanks, finally the 'stros. And there was word that the Rangers were gonna make a play this spring too!
I saw Clemens on Sports Center and he said he needs to throw in..."there are kids half my age with their nose on the outside corner"
He is alot like that other Texas fireballer - Nolan Ryan. Best moment in recent baseball memory? Nolan Ryan smacking Robin Ventura's face after the idiot charged the mound...

Poor Ventura never lived it down.

OH HELL YEAH Kurt..that was a kodak moment when Nolan nailed that dude.

I didn't realize the Rocket was into Tom for that much lol..must of been love at first sight :)

B..hush dude :p

Sonic..no one likes the yanks but serious yank fans..the same can not be said for most of the other teams in the universe. No one is hated more than the Yanks..or is it Steinbrenner?

Speaking of the 'Stros... Did you happen to catch the Houston/Chicago game on ESPN last night?

Bottom of the 9th, Houston leads 9-5, 2 outs, bases loaded and Iguchi hits a grand slam to tie it up. Holy shit - the dude had just hit a 3 run homer in the 8th! Sox lost in the 13th but damn sam, that was some good ball...

And could someone please tell me what they put in the water in Detriot this year! 51-25 WTF? Yeehaw - Go Tiggers!
