DULUTH, Minn. – The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) prevailed yesterday in its efforts to stamp out copyright infringement by Native American single mothers of two children.
Jammie Thomas, 30, who was found guilty of "musical terrorism" related to alleged online music-sharing activities, now owes the RIAA $222,000 for making twenty-four songs, including Sarah McLachlan's 'Building a Mystery,' available to others via the file sharing network Kazaa. That works out to $9,167 per song or $110,000 per twelve-song CD.
"This verdict sends a message to all Native American single mothers who flout the law," said the RIAA's lead attorney, Richard Gabriel. "No cohort, no matter how small, marginally employed, or strapped for cash, is safe."
Speaking on the courthouse steps following the verdict, Ms. Thomas maintained that she was innocent of all charges.
"Sarah McLachlan's 'Building a Mystery?'" she laughed. "Give me a break. They must have planted that one on my hard drive."
Ms. Thomas' attorney, Richard Bratton, said he planned to appeal the decision.
"This case is a long way from being decided," he said. "By the time this one makes its way through the courts, the price of a CD may well be $110,000."
Of course this piece is a humor piece..but the fact remains the assholes at the RIAA are giddy over this ruling. I hope the appeals courts shoot it down..and thereby shut them the fuck up.
Fox Sports president Bob Goren was struck and killed by a lightning bolt sent directly at hit from God this morning while considering adding “comedian” Dane Cook to the network’s baseball playoffs broadcast tandem of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
“I usually don’t like to get closely involved in stuff like this,” said God. “Sports aren’t too high on My list of priorities. But Fox is broadcast television. That means it gets beamed out into the heavens, and there’s no way I wanted to hear those guys together. Maybe Goren wasn’t even seriously considering it, who knows. I guess we’ll never know. But I had to play it safe. Buck and McCarver are bad enough – but Dane Cook, too? God help us all. And He did. You’re welcome.”
Thank you God..Timmy is trying enough..Bless you Lord.
NEW YORK (CAP) - The New York Mets held a 7-game lead in their division as late as September 12. The San Diego Padres held a two run lead in the 13th inning of the game to decide the NL wildcard, with baseball's all-time saves leader on the mound. Both teams suffered monumental collapses and will miss the post-season. Times seem bleak for both organizations, but all hope is not lost.
While they won't be hoisting any trophies or blinding friends and family with World Series bling, the Mets and the Padres have secured something that may be even more valuable - slots at George Steinbrenner's annual conference, "Losing Big, Feeling Shame, And Coming Back: In Sports And In Life", to be held next month in New York City.
Known in sports circles as Choke Camp, the conference has become the premier gathering for losers looking to pick up the pieces after devastating, embarrassing losses.
"We look forward to having the Mets and the Padres attend this year's event," said conference organizer Dillon Erickson. "Both teams choked in a big, big way, and both will have lots of sharing to do with regard to their feelings of shame, guilt, remorse, and embarrassment.
"Only after the sharing can come the healing, and only after the healing can come the willingness to go out in public without a paper bag over one's head," Erickson noted.
Steinbrenner founded Choke Camp in 2004, following the New York Yankees' historic, unimaginable, and downright humiliating loss to the Boston Red Sox in the American League playoffs. Undoubtedly professional sports' biggest flop, the Yankees were left stunned and looking for answers. That's when Big George stepped in and started the conference, as a way for his team to gather with other losers in an attempt to find the answer to the ever-elusive question: why?
"Mr. Steinbrenner cares greatly for the Yankees," said a Yankee intern who identified himself only as 'Jason' during a phone interview with CAP News. "He loves the team, and he loves the players, and he loves the staff. He couldn't bear to see all the pain that filled Yankee Stadium in 2004. The conference was his way to fill the holes in our hearts with faith and love. Each year, we have so many more needy people who want to attend than slots available, but we're happy to hold places for both the Padres and the Mets for this year's event.
"Oops, I've got to run, that's Michigan's football coach on the other line," said 'Jason'.
Others such as noted clinical psychologist Tania Manis are not sold on Steinbrenner's efforts, calling the gathering "a farce, a carnival side show."
"Basically, you've just got a bunch of losers gathered together for a week to talk about how much they suck, and who sucks worse," said Manis. "What they really need to do is get back on the practice field, get back in the gym, stop whining, work harder, and they'll be back on track for success.
"I mean, for real - the key note speaker at this thing is Doctor Phil. Doctor Phil? Are you kidding me?" said an exasperated Manis. "The only sport that guy is qualified to speak on is the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest, and that's only because he's a lard-ass."
Choke Camp 2007 will be filmed for a documentary tentatively titled, I'm A Loser Baby, So Why Don't You Kill Me?, to be released in the summer of 2008. Chris Webber is slated to host the film.
Suicide is such a huge dramatic statement. That someone of the tender age of 32 would do it and leave 4 little kids and a woman that loved him is beyond me.
That he wouldn't leave a note really freaks me out too. If your going to stage your death, don't you want people to know why your going to all the trouble to do it?
His funeral put asses in the seats. He was loved, make no doubts about that my dear reader..they said they hadn't seen a turnout of that magnitude in freaking ages..
But his illness got the best of him, and for that he must be forgiven. At least that is the way I think of it now..he was bi-polar. That our Medicare system constantly fucked with him about his meds doesn't please me one fucking iota. It makes me want to beat someone to a bloody pulp.
But I do know thats wrong too..and two wrongs don't make a right. Damn it.
I can understand his death at that level however. Because I have been there and thought about doing that. Too many times to count. Debilitating physical illness will do that to a normally sane individual.
But I have always come back from the edge my dear reader. I have found a reason to keep 'keeping on'. Chris didn't, and I am filled with emotional pain that no vicodin, xanax or muscle relaxer can take away.
Which is probably what he felt at the end. The suffocating emotional pain that washes over you and won't let you up for air no matter what you take or what you do.
At least his pain is over. I am glad for that, it is my only saving grace to take away from this experience. His demons are at rest.
It just leaves the living to figure it the fuck out and move on.
Barroid Bonds won't be playing in the first spring training game..this is a shocker, I know..
Manny Ramirez arrived three days early, instead of his usual 3 days late to camp..THAT IS A SHOCKER!
And Donald Fehr and his minions will offer advice to players regarding the George Mitchell steroid investigation..but its up to each player whether or not they want to cooperate.
Last week is over..thank you Jesus..the body is trying to get back into action after being used as a pin cushion for my own version of hell via cortisone shots by the 'pain management doctor'..lol..he doesn't manage shit but he knows how to hurt ya..you know what I mean?
Let the baseball games begin..Cause I really need a friggin diversion folks :)
I am in a lot of fucking pain today, its dreary, cold, windy and rainy. I have spent most of my day in and out of bed under the influence of some very powerful pain and muscle relaxer type pills, since I also got 3 epidurals this morning..its been one helluva day...
My knees hurt too. They aren't part of my usual pain ritual. Its my back with its missing discs and my hip...but I digress...
I remembered the last time my knees hurt that bad. It was mid 70's, I lived in Boston, the Fenway area to be exact..its known as The Fen's to the locals as I recall. In the winter I developed a condition in my knees known as Clondromaylasia Pitella. Or some fucking shit..anyway..
In the drark and horrid New England winters you go for weeks without seeing the fucking sun. It sucks moose balls. I couldn't work, I wouldn't walk and going to the shitter presented its own problems. So I sat in the dark usually medicated up to my brown eyes, and I stared at Fenway Park..in all its glorious splendor. I was in the highest bldg around, the top floor, corner apt and fucking awesome.
There were no other buildings between me and the BallPark and there I was on the 8th floor. The distance was about a quarter of a mile and it overlooked the actual park ofthe original Fenway Park..its was small, with a french-looking arch, don't get excited. I could hear the crowds and the crack of the bat, I could also see just a wee part of the inside of the ball park as well. I remember staring at the giant Gasoline sign, i forget the brand, I AM medicate remember.. I loved it in the summer, I always got goose bumps when I heard the crack of the bat and waited to see if it was the homeboys or the visitors, you could tell by the fans response of course. But again, I digress..hey its the meds ok?
SO, in the winter, it was dark and bleak, almost like the view was in black and white really. So I would spend sometimes hours looking at The ballpark. I would take pics, I would look thru the binoculars.
So I saw the view there in my minds eye today, and it seemed to take my mind off the pain, for that brief moment anyway. And it felt fucking awesome. The picture was so clear, it freaked me out.
The bathroom had the best view, figures eh? It was handtiled all the friggin way up the walls and including the floor.FUCKER was cold in the winter...radiator heat and all. But when the sound of the ball meeting the bat came through that room..it echoed around that cold little room...fuck I loved that sound. The crowd lifted my soul when it was one of the homeboys that hit it.
And so, I spent the afternoon tripping down memory lane, thanks to modern science and a great mind control thang going on. Because the drugs just take the edge of it. To make it go away, I went somewhere else.
"I was just frustrated that this was the way I was gonna die and that was it," he said.
He didn't see his life flash before his eyes, so evidently it wasn't his time to go. Read the article about the man and his wild ride without a functioning parachute here..then watch the video below. Those Dudes from New Zealand have some nads..he's going to do it again he says.
Here we have her morgue pic..and here we have her coffin. If you think this is tacky..your a fucking prude..ok? Anna's life was lived in the spotlight..and her death will be no different sportsfans..besides..as Flash pointed out at her blog..can you hear St. Peter now saying"Ok, Anna's here..can we get a 90 year old dick for her to suck on, so she will feel right at home"?
Thanks to Flash's There's your Karma for the link to the graphics above.
TMZ has this link up to a NY Daily News article. It states..god, I love this one..that A.N.Smith had her 90 year-old former husband's sperm frozen and that the old dead guy is the daddy of the little girl..fucking rich ain't it? Well, the kid could end up rich..so its rich no matter how you slice or dice this bs.
According to a father who's son was in the program it is..which shouldn't surprise anyone. I mean..come one..redneck racing is and always will be just that..rednecks. Their fan base might expand..and lately, contract..but the drivers, pit crews and assorted wingnuts at Nascar will always be lily fucking white. In the three years the program has been in existance..not one of the "minority" drivers have moved up into either of the three Nascar formats: Truck, Busch or Cup racing..From the NYT article:
"And now the father of an African-American stock-car driver once called a top racing prospect said the highly publicized Nascar-supported program was a failure. Joe Henderson Jr. said his son, Joe III, was under contract to MB2 Motorsports from 2005 to 2006 and was used for publicity but was given poor equipment in 2005 and not even provided a racecar in 2006."
To make it even worse..Nascar doesn't protect these minorities. Once instance, cited in the article, has 100 fans flaming a 16 yr old black driver. What else reeks of donkey piss is that Nascar uses these guys to promote them..as in..Lookee here! See, here's a negro that's racing..ain't we cool, we ain't prejudiced!
I call bullshit on this 4 year old program and the fuckwits running it. I think some rich white guys are pocketing some of the cash and I wouldn't be surprised if more comes out about this as the stockcar year progresses.
As I always say: You can take the redneck out of the hollar, but you can't take the hollar out of the redneck.
For those of you that don't have a clue what a friggin' hollar is..check out Coal Miner's Daughter, ok?
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian police are investigating a report that bodies donated to a Sydney university for medical research were sexually abused and that coffins were filled with parts from multiple bodies.
Read the rest here. Those Aussies are some sick fucks..
A wonderful journalist has left us. Molly Ivins was funny and yet biting. Since my last post was pretty heavy duty, I wanted to put up something to make people smile at the very least, make them howl with laughter if possible. Here is a YouTube video entitled the "Dildo Diaries"...its Molly explaining the TX. sodomy laws and how they were removed, then put back on the books. Its quite funny, its also adult content.
I have been in constant and mostly excruciating pain for over 10 months now. Anyone that reads my drivel regularly knows this. I have to fight with the insurance company to get treatment that is commonly accepted by the majority of insurance companies..the reason MY insurance company fights me and my doctors tooth and nail is this...
They represent my employer. Its workers compensation insurance. They have one goal..KEEP THE COSTS DOWN AT ALL COSTS. They do not care what I deal with on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. They have never talked to me. They have never approved one thing first time its requested. They make my doctor ask and ask again..the appeal process works in favor of the insurance company and the mutha fuckas know it.
I am tired of fighting for my rights to being treated in a fair and equitable manner. I am tired of being in pain all the time..I am tired of sleeping maybe 4 hours a night..being drugged up to my eyeballs just for a few precious hours of sleep. Constant pain is more debilitating than the injury itself. It robs you of your sanity, your reasoning skills and any semblance of a decent quality of life. I am tired of being medicated up to my brown eyes and the side effects that come with constantly being medicated. Its bad for my body..very bad. My doctor has stated I am a good candidate for disc replacement surgery. But try telling that to the assholes at workers compensation. Those fuckwits would rather deny me the most basic needs in order to save a buck. They make my doctor jump through hoops just get medication approved. An epidural shot of cortisone given a month apart should of provided me relief..instead..I got the shots 6 months apart..which doesnt do a FUCKING thing. Its like taking an aspirin after you have gone into pnuemonia. Its fuckwitted and god damn stupid.
Their goal is to outwait me and my doctors. If they drag their fucking heels long enough maybe we will tire of asking..maybe I will say fuck it and go back to work since the money I recieve on workers comp is a mere pittance of what I got when I worked.
There have been times when I look at all those medications and think of downing them all with a large skyy and soda. I am so tired of being in pain. I am so damn tired of this bullshit at my expense.
I want to take a gun and blow them all to hell..but I wont' I am not capable of the 3 hour drive to their offices in LA. I can't even clean my house. I can't do much of anything unless I am medicated than then I cant do anything because I am a zombie..its bullshit I tell ya.
When money considerations come before the health and quality of life for the patients..its disgusting and should be illegal. but it's the law and workers compe loves it. I do not.
Barbaro was put down today..but in order to lighten your spirits..here is a video of over 100 horses that were saved last year in the Netherlands. It took a few women to figure it out..the men were no help..as usual.
The man is 59 years old. He has had double heart bypass. He is the man when it comes to no-no's, pitching 7 of those suckers. He was elected to the HOF on the first ballot. He pitched in both leagues for a total of 27 friggin years.
The Tuna retired...again. Read all about it here. He quit in an E-MAIL!!!
Congrats Peyton, you guys pulled that one outta your ass..it was a good game to watch with one eye open. When the jackass announcers got all worked up, I would turn up the volumn and actually open the other eye.
The best because its two games, unlike the Superbowl..I am going for New Orleans even though they will most likely get crushed in the cold of Chicago. Dome teams suck this time of year when they have to deal with the weather.
In the AFC..I don't give a shit. With the Chargers out of it..does it friggin matter? I guess I do harbor hope that Brady will take one up the ass as some point during the game. I just want a good game..a reason to stay anything but sober all day...and then we all get to sit around and wait two freaking weeks for the finale...can you say fuckwitted?
Enjoy your best football sunday of the season folks..its going to be interesting.
Al Davis is either in the throes of alzheimers or just friggin out there..I am now convinced of this fact.
The dumb sumbitch is interviewing...wait for it..
James Lofton for the head coaching job.
Yes my dear reader..no one wants to coach the fucking Raiders so they are actually interviewing a former wide receiver for the position.
Lofton is currently the Chargers WR coach. The man is a HOF'er to be sure..but as a head coach..WTF?
They might be trying to skirt the NFL rule about minorities in coaching, by interviewing him..but for the love of god..get a grip on reality folks..this is bullshit.
NFL.com has a writeup here. This is the height of fuckwittedness I do believe...but I could be wrong..
His body is ravaged by Parkinsons, but they say his mind is still sharp and he still has his wit. I loved him for many reasons. A black man that said what he thought. A man, that although he fought for a living, refused to fight in Vietnam. I love the fact that they took his title and he won it back. But all those rope a dopes took their toll on his body..and its so sad. I hope he is happy and content with his life and his fight against Parkinson's will be another one that he wins.
Happy Birthday Champ! You were the greatest of them all.
The Chargers beat themselves..the Patriots just came along for the ride. How else do you explain the fact that Brady had 3 INT's but his team still won?
These are the playoffs. You should never win when your interception prone in the playoffs.
Marty sucks at time management and play calling. Going for 4th and 11 at the beginning of the game but not the end of it...He sucked down those timeouts like gatorade towards the end of the game...on stupid shit. Rivers had the playoff rookie yips on too many plays.
At the end of the second quarter..the Chargers D left the field early...at least their motivation did.
The Personal Fouls..its a whole host of things..LaDanian could not deliver the entire game no matter how damn good he is. Its a team sport..it ain't fucking golf.
That half boy-half girl, half black-half white thing usually referred to as the King of Pop has been sued by a pharmacy in SoCal. Seems Jacko owes the Beverly Hills pharmacy over 100k.
Jesus christ in a speedo.. $100,000.00 is ALOT of Vicodin and Soma people.
What kind of nimrod doesn't pay his drug dealer?
read all about it here, including the court docs..
Its a football playoff kinda day..I am getting primed..forgive my brief post. ok, don't forgive me..suck it and deal :P
Big Mac did not. See the voting..if you care...here.
Damn near unanimous for these two. My Tony..is my chest puffed up or what people? And Cal, I watched him play for a few years when I lived in MD. Ironman Ripken.
But Goose didn't make it in. Damn it all.
I got my second epidural today..technically, I got two for the love of god. I will be sleeping most of today away. Have a good day my dear reader.
With the Chargers playing their first playoff game with ol Marty at the helm this coming weekend I have some thoughts..
Marty Schottenheimers record so SUCKS in the playoffs..I mean..it REALLY sucks ass crack. Having to play New England doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. Ravens got the better end of the playoff deal methinks. The Chargers didn't play the Pat's this year..dammit! But, on the bright side..Chargers beat the living shit out of them last year 41-17.
Chicago Bears better tank. I got money on them tanking big time. Fuckers better not let me down..not like Rex did during the last couple of weeks in my fantasy leagues..bastard.
I was living on the east coast and rooting for the Bills when the NY football Giants won Superbowl XXV. It was actually Scott Norwood who lost that Superbowl. He muffed a fucking 47 yard field goal.
It crushed me..for years.
Friends would just say his name and I would come unglued. Tonight..Norwood was vindicated..sort of.
Bill Parcells' Cowboy's blew a field goal tonight that would of put them into the next round of the playoffs. Parcell's was the NY Giants coach when Norwood blew that field goal.
And my mommie dearest is in the hospital in San Diego. Now, she's been there for a week, so its not as bad as it sounds..really. My sister whom she came out to visit has said when the ol biddie gets out of the hospital, she needs to move to another relatives house..she no longer wishes to deal with mommie dearest.
Who the fuck does?
Nothing will blow your holiday mood like dealing with my crotchetty, self-absorbed, COPD-suffering mother. Believe me folks..this bitch takes the cake. She is rude, negative, condescending and really insufferable..just take my word ok? She was moved to another "care center" since she wasn't really sick any longer, as much as an over-fucking-dramatic windbag of a bitch who thinks the world rises and sets on her ass.
Think Fred Sanford but will a little more money and female.
The phone lines have been buzzin all morning: this sista, that sista..my father..and back again. Its all so hard to swallow when your watching bowl games and smoking one. I want to enjoy my day as much as I am able. I deserve it for the love of god. This woman who couldn't parent her way out of a wet paper bag wants my undivided attention when there isn't anything medically necessary right now can kiss my ass.
There, I said it.
She needs to suck it up and deal. She isn't dying yet. She pulls this every christmas/new years season. I swear as god is my witness. No one asks her to migrate to Cali each winter and live with one of her daughters and make their poor lives a living hell. But she comes out anyway.
Not my fucking house, no sir ree bob. I tell her no room in the inn..just like for poor Jesus and his mom, ya know?
It works..why change?
I hope they figure it out down there. I have never been so fucking glad to live in the agriculture capital of the U.S..the San Joaquin Valley..in my life as now.
Jeff Beck with glam hair, Johnny Cash and ironically a very youthful James Brown are here in a great black and white montage of pictures from one of Rolling Stone's first photographers, Baron Wolman.
Its a flash site, so you can't steal any of these great photographs. Believe me, I tried.
Sportsline ranks Zito as 17th best pitcher for the last season, yet Zito is now the highest paid pitcher in MLB.
But he is a lefty..jesus christ, when will baseball teams value pitchers by their worth, not by which arm they pitch with? A starting pitcher only pitches once every five days but this contract rivals a recent contract given to Toronto's Vernon Wells, a center fielder and pretty decent hitter who plays every day.
It should also be noted that Zito's agent is Scott Boras. Scott is god's gift to baseball players..even those not worth the money Scotty gets them. Like Kevin Brown and Chan Ho Park to name two. Good read up on the Chron about Boras here.
It gets harder to love the game of baseball with contracts like Zito's..it really does. That kind of money for someone that only plays every 5th day..fucking amazing.
As a native Californian..I grew up hanging out in Tower Records. It was more than just a place to buy albums..it was the early version of hanging out in the "mall". Tower was a national company when it came to an end..but it was founded here in Cali. I remember bands playing in the stores, listening parties, all kinds of stuff.
I feel very old today.
We buy our music as mp3's not black plastic albums with intricate album covers. We don't visit with friends as we purchase our music..we sit at the computer more times than not. Tower is a dinosauer that just went extinct on our ass.
Here is a pic of my brother in Colorado this week..is he nucking futs or what? Mental Illness and practical jokes do run in the family...Click for larger..the dipshit is in sandals too!
I am on my way back to Cali, the weather is just as sucky as it was when we got here..have a good day folks:)
The man, the myth, the wonder of blues guitar. Joe opened his set apologizing for blowing off last nights show. He was in the final throes of a bad cold. It was obvious by his congestion and constantly blowing his nose..but his guitar playing didn't suffer. Here are some of my shitty pics..christ, I wish I could learn to use that damn camera.
He ended the set with "Asking 'round bout You" . It's so Ray Charles sounding, that tune..I would say it was well worth the trip from Bakersfield to see my man Joe play. Back to Cali in the morning..long ass drive that it is....night all..going down for some grub and then hit the sack.
This lovely ditty is over at Republispin. Its a "not office safe" mp3 entitled "I wanna rock you hard for christmas". Go enjoy the fruits of free speech and lots of crass verbage my dear reader, with lines such as "I want to fill your stocking with my candy cane of joy"...
Tonight is an important football game. Ah shit..they are all important in some way..either a fantasy player going, or someone going for homefield advantage..my Chargers will have to win to get homefield..the Ravens win if it goes to the head to head battle. Tonight is that battle between the Vikings and Green Bay..wait a min..perhaps this game doesn't mean shit afterall..hell its football..the odds sheet I picked up have the Packers minus 3 and a half..real barn burner that game..but..
I can fucking watch it since the casino has satellite..praise jeebus and make me another skyy and soda :)
Have a good day..the concert last night got cancelled..I was depressed and drowned my sorrows in an entire bottle of grey goose..drank the bar completely out of the shit. Ain't that something to be proud of? Perhaps not..but its my story and I am sticking to it.
I had an idea it was going to be cold when I saw snow on the ground for the last 90 minutes of our drive. A beautiful but strange site in the Mohave desert and surrounding mountains.
Ok, so when I arrived in the town known as sin city..it was 43 degrees. Seriously, it was 43 friggin degrees at 4pm. As I write this, at 5:46am..its a balmy 34 degrees. This just ain't right folks!
Did someone move the Vegas Strip to northern Canada? WTF is this crap? When we got all our luggage up to the room, the ball and chain waltzed over to the window, looked down at the pool and said..gee, no one is swimming.
Well no shit sherlock, these pools aren't heated, and only an idiot would be swimming when its its in the low 40's outside.
The high today is expected to be..ready for it? 49 degrees.
The casino is kept very warm..too damn warm in my opinion. I am used to being able to hang meat in my living room, The ball and chain keeps the thermostat on 60, not because he is saving the environment, because he is a cheap sob. In my office it's always warmer..but jeez..not as warm as the casino.
So, I plunked down a $20 bill, shoved it into the poker machine as I talked up Pat, my favorite bartender who always remembers my drink of choice: Grey Goose and soda, two limes. I run it up to $60 bucks in a matter of minutes..cool, this might be a good trip. I watch the basketball game, having the power to command what is on each of the 6 tv channels at the bar..Pat is such a dear, and besides he knows I tip well. I flirt with the $100 range for awhile on the poker machine, finding out all the newest gossip here, watching the Lakers and rooting for them to lose. Pat keeps those drinks a-coming..christ, I have to tell him I need a breather..I am not longer able to sling them back with the rest of em as I did when I was a young drunkard. When the trip to the bathroom becomes an exercise of putting one foot in front of the other, I announce to the ball and chain its time to get some grub.
Oh, the poker machine...I ended up with $50 bucks. Not bad for a $20 investment and all the Grey Goose I could drink.
The temperature is still 34 degrees. Why did I bring my bathing suit? Why did I envision a nice lil tan? I ain't going anywhere near the damn pool, much less outside unless an extreme emergency arises...I forgot to bring my snow boots and parka.
As for today, some more booze, some more gambling and a lot of loud blues with Joe Bonamassa.
I will be at the above location for three days..getting tanked on expensive booze for free and listening to some great blues upclose and personal. I will blog from there when I can't sleep. God knows if it will be coherent.
My fantasy teams sucked this week. I started with 4 teams in the playoffs..down to 1 going into the finals..I am satisfied this season..McNabb really hosed me big time..so I can't complain. Romo better keep up the good work is all I gotta say.
Have a good week, I know I will :)
The cat below is my usually docile signature cat out on the town in Vegas..shame on him smoking..he bets too.
Sweet jeezuz in a speedo dude..it's his friggin job to piss you off. Falcon's cornerback DeAngelo Hall did his job well Saturday night..His reward? Getting spit upon by the man he was tasked with shadowing..Terrel Owens. How come no one is breaking this guys legs when he goes "long"?
T.O. fessed up to the crime on live tv when being interviewed on the NFL Network. He said the guy got in his face, the guy pissed him off..can you say fuckwit? I can.
God. what. an .asshole.
Another bit o NFL news..big pussy Tank Johnson, who evidently is a big fucking baby and afraid of normal folk..was out an about with his BODY GUARD Sat. night. Said body guard is now dead. Tank is a fucking NOSE TACKLE. Its not like he is some little wide receiver, or pansy-ass Quarterback. Tank has also been arrested 3 times in the last 18 months..wotta clown!
3 of MY 6 fantasy teams are still in the playoffs..of course after today's games..I will be lucky if any are still playing..its been that kinda football season.
My gift to the two folks that actually drop by and read this stuff is the best young blues player in the business, Joe Bonamassa. Listen to him, enjoy him because my happy ass will be traveling to hear him gratis next wed and thurs in Vegas! The ball and chain always takes me to Vegas for my birthday...truth is, I hate Vegas. But I go to listen to good music and my man Joe will be playing there for free two glorious nights! Enjoy his music, there is another tune of his up on my political blog if you want some more of his riffs..Somewhere in that 27 year old body is a old black bluesman..HERE is an awesome version of "Burning Hell" off Joe's website.
Interesting that its in b&w..because like I said..he plays like an old bluesmaster from the 50's.
Edit: Ok, my ass has been up since 3am. The back is being a bitch, god I fucking hate it..but hey..I got to watch the sun set, the moon rise and the fog roll quietly in for another year. I am grateful for that, really I am. I am grateful for another year of Padres baseball, my cats and 2 dogs..even if those fuckers will drive me to drink on occasion.and pick me up if I get drunk as the proverbial skunk. :P
Ok, so its 6am now..time to crank some Allman Bros.
The rage for baseball nutz, such as myself, to rant and rail against Mark McGwire's nomination into the Hall of Fame has mostly been because of his "supposed" use of steroids and HGH among other things. Even taking into consideration that Big Mac used that shit prior to it becoming illegal doesn't calm anyone down. He did it..he should not be allowed into the HOF.
But, being the bleeding heart liberal that I am, I say Big Mac should eventually get in. Michael Bradley, a columist for Sportsline, who goes by the moniker "El Hombre", says not so fast sportsfans. His recent column on the subject of Big Mac's HOF nomination brings up many points which I, personally, had not figured into the equation. Things like Big Mac's stats, those suckers really aren't up to snuff according to El Hombre. Lets revisit some of them..its a slow sports Saturday and I don't have a damn thing to do, since I just sent the ball and chain out to get my car detailed for my trip to the coast tomorrow.
McGwire played 16 seasons and finished with just 1,626 hits. If he were admitted to Cooperstown, he would find only 13 players with fewer knocks. Of them, four (Roy Campanella, Monte Irvin, Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby) spent considerable time in the Negro leagues, three had just six seasons of 100 or more games played and five had 900-plus fewer at bats than McGwire. His .263 lifetime average reflects his lack of pure hitting prowess.
McGwire can't be considered a big RBI man, either. He finished with 1,414, fewer than any of the other three mentioned so far. He had 100 or more in a season seven times, and in 1998, when he hit 70 homers, he drove in 147, evidence that he A) cracked a lot of solo dingers; B) he didn't have too many other run-producing hits; or C) both. That year, McGwire hit just 21 doubles and had only 103 total bases that didn't come from round-trippers.
And finally, these stats:
Finally, let's look at McGwire in comparison to a player who hasn't made the Hall -- but who many think is worthy -- Jim Rice. Like McGwire, Rice played 16 seasons. He hit .298 for his career, rapped out 2,452 hits, had 1,451 RBI, 4,129 total bases (against McGwire's 3,639), 373 doubles, 1,249 runs scored (to McGwire's 1,167), struck out 1,423 times (vs. 1,596 for McGwire) won an MVP award (McGwire didn't) and finished in the top five on five other occasions (three times total for McGwire). Rice had 200 or more hits four times, vs. zero for McGwire, and knocked in 100 or more runs eight times.
Makes sense to me..sorry Big Mac..but if any of the voting members make these connections, along with the drug flap..yo ass won't be in Cooperstown any time soon..if ever. I have always been depressed about Rice not making it into the HOF. But I don't vote..I just bitch.
Its that time o' the year..The Weblog Awards! This year, I have two blogs I would like my dear readers to vote ala "Chicago style" on.
The first is Bring it On!. I am now a contributing writer to this forum, even if someone hasn't gotten around to putting my name on the contributor list yet. Every Tues, Thurs and Sat I will have an article or two up on the main page and three times a month I contribute a "feature" article. To vote for BIO, you will need to go here and cast your vote DAILY. We are up against some very popular political blogs, but we are the little guys, so please try to get us at least into the top 3, which would make us very proud indeed. The fuckwits have us listed under "liberal blog" which is retarded because we have contributors and writers from every spectrum, including conservatives..unlike the folks we are up against. Sites like Daily Kos shun us because we want dialogue with the rightwingers...how the fuck else do you bring this country together? Enough editorial shit..
Next, we have that fine and very funny sports blog, Kissing Suzy Kolber. I heart these guys. They aren't so much about providing news but making fun of the sports news and figures. Some very excellent writers on this site so please go here to vote for KSK, ok?
These things are basically popularity contests, but fuck it, we all wanna be loved don't we?
This is the week when all the GM's and their associates get together in sunny FL. to talk about all things baseball. They also party a lot, drink a lot, and ocassionally get some business done. They re-sign some of their current players, trade for others and sign a free agent or two. They meet and greet the smarmy agents representing the players who are looking for a team to play for. In the case of free agent Barroid Bonds, he actually showed up at the meetings with his current agent, whos name I refuse to utter.
Thats because the market for his services has dried up like a river running through the desert in the heat of summer. Guess the market conditions aren't real good for a 42 yr old slugger who's only goal is to become the home run leader, surpassing Hammerin' Hank Aaron. Bonds only needs 21 homers to tie Aaron. Bonds hasn't played an entire season in over 3 years. He has bad knees..very bad knees, which only really worked for part of the season this year, seeing his Batting avg. drop to a dismal .236 at one point. So Barroid made an appearance. Barroid of course, expects top dollar for his services.
So does a hooker walking the boulevard in any city in the U.S.
Enough on Bonds. There was a grand announcement on the first day of the 4 days of meetings:
Baseball will celebrate it's diversity by holding the Civil Rights Game, a new annual event to celebrate the movement begun in baseball by Jackie Robinson. Its a dumb name imho. Real dumb. Should of named it after the man himself.
Ah baseball, the best players union in the world. Donald Fehr is one helluva negotiator. That minimum salary requirement will rise this year, just as it always does because players so not worth it, will recieve salaries that would feed a small African nation for a year or a huge section of the Domenican Republic.
Yet Alfanso Soriano's new contract pays him more than Albert Pujols. That just ain't right.
Funny, but I don't get why the beer was warm..they had a snow storm for christ's sake..but here goes, courtesy of Deadspin and STL today:
ST. LOUIS: Warm beer led to killing, police say
12/04/2006
A St. Louis man was shot to death Sunday night over a warm beer, police said.
St. Louis police say a woman shot her husband, who was about 70 years old, four to five times in the chest after he tried giving her a warm can of Stag beer.
Police said the wife admitted shooting him about 5:40 p.m. in the kitchen of their home in the 5100 block of Terry Avenue. Police said the home had no electricity at the time.
Homicide detectives would not identify the man. The woman, whom police also did not identify, was taken into custody.
If you have ever had a Stag beer..you would understand why she shot him folks..
Now, for my shit.
The past week was bad from a fantasy perspective. I started out in the toilet and stayed there all the way thru Monday. Baseball hasn't made it any better so far. Manny won't be leaving Boston for San Diego..damn it all to hell. Neither apparently will Barry Zito. That fuckwit said publicly he wanted to go to SD..wtf happened? I will tell you..that tightassed owner most likely. God forbid that sumbitch drop some money on a decent fucking pitcher..John Moores..kiss my hairy ass you worthless bag of batshit. And tell that George Hamilton-tanned dipshit GM to suck eggs too.
Other than that..I am contemplating drinking alot for the remainder of the week..unless you my dear reader have another suggestion.
I just can't believe this fuckwit extraordinaire has a job as a talking head at ESPN. He has the IQ of a blade of grass. Below is the now famous piece of ESPN'S Sunday Morning football pregame show where Tom Terrific asks the big question of Mike: Are you retarded? Before that however, read the newest bs coming out of Irvins' piehole.
Now it seems Irvin has once again come off like the idiot he truely is. On Dan Patrick's radio show Monday, Mikey started waxing poetic about Tony Romo's Dallas' new QB. Mikey had the nads to intimate that Romo must have some African-American in his heritage. Seem's that is the only way Mikey can explain that a white player could possibly be any good. Slate has a decent writeup about this newest faux-paux by America's biggest sports nimrod and why he should get as much heat as Jimmy the Greek did when he made a comment along the same lines many years ago. Jimmy was white of course, and Mikey isn't. The article points out that Trent Lott's gaffe about Strom Thurmond cost him his job, yet sports figures seem to get little heat for their racist remarks, tirades and bad jokes. The Big Lead also has a good writeup that gives you pretty much the entire fiasco from Dan Patricks radio show where Mikey let loose with the Romo bs yesterday. Mikey has of course apologized. Asshole.
Now..lets watch Tom Jackson call Mikey a retard shall we?
For those of you bored out of your skulls at work..go here. Just keep the drunk bastard off the train tracks. He does start staggering after about the fifth glass of champagne so be careful. His belch reminds me of the ball and chain..isn't that so cute? :P
This time of year, as we aim for the playoffs in both fantasy and the real world of the NFL..it gives one pause.....
To comtemplate what in the blue hell was I thinking when I picked Ben Rothlesberger in four fucking leagues this season as my backup qb. Why did I pick Donovan McNabb when I knew full well that sumbitch hasn't finished 3 straight seasons without getting hurt in some form or fashion.
There are other things I think about as I hang on in several leauges and kick ass in a couple others. Its all in where you draft and what is left in the Free Agent market when your star player goes down for the rest of the season.
I just thank god I am not playing for money. I am not good enough for that. But it doesn't mean I don't fret and get frustrated by how each of those god-forsaken fantasy teams are fairing.
Then there are those most excellent moves where Romo was still available and I picked his ass up in time for a 5 TD Sunday....Pray jeebus, can I get an amen?
I know...its a fantasy. It beats snorthing meth or jogging until the your natural high kicks in and your heart is screaming for a break.
Hey if you don't like it, too damn bad. Its the Dusty Pet parade and revue. You want something deep, head over to the political blog my dear reader. If you want something with a little snark or fuckwittery..read this. A real ironic read if you ask me.
Not before I get to watch the inaugural launching of the NFL Network's 3rd game of the Thanksgiving day extravaganza. I love this channel. I sleep with it freaking on. I want a baseball channel like this. For those of you, which is apparently millions upon millions, that don't get the NFL Network, here is a great writeup about what your missing. I too will miss it after next Tuesday..thats when the damn cable gets reconnected.
I do have to admit, I really don't like the DishNetwork. The remote and subsequent programming of said instrument is NOT user friendly. It should be noted that I am not a retard when it comes to programming things, I have driven far and wide to provide such services for many friends and family members. When I buy things that have technology-driven insides..I can usually fuck with it for a minute or two, without reading the 50 page manual, and set it to however I want it to work, load 40 favorites and schedule all my tivo activity for at least 6 months.
This was not the case with the remote for DishNetwork. If I have to read a fucking book to figure out how to do the most innane things..fuck you charlie, your going back to the company in a box real quick.
But I sure will miss the NFL Network..perhaps I can call my cable company daily in my "screaming mimi" voice and they will get it..in time for NEXT friggin season.
Since most folks assumed Jeter was going to get the AL MVP..I wasn't paying attention when the winner was announced yesterday.
Jeter didn't get it..Justin Morneau did.
Morneau received 15 first-place votes, eight seconds, three thirds and two fourths for 320 points in voting by a panel of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Jeter finished with 12 firsts, 14 seconds, one fourth and one sixth for 306 points.
I love diversity..and this award did make me smile. Not because Jeter lost, but because a guy who started the season batting a paltry .236 won it. He finished the season with some great numbers; a batting average of .321, 34 homers and 130 RBI's..
Ok, I took it upon myself to lower our cable bill. The ball and chain complained recently that our bill was going to hike up to $126.00 a month starting next month.
I said very loudly....WTF?
He repeated the price and said we have been paying $106.00 a month because he had whined six months ago about the bill and they graciously (or not) lowered the bill by $20 a month to shut him the hell up. But thats water under the bridge starting next month.
The cable company basically has said..Merry Christmas, choke on this mutha fucka.
This bill also includes our cable internet bill too, but its still a lot of friggin money to lay out each month to watch HBO, SHOWTIME and for me to play fuck-around on the internets. Mind you, I have RoadRunner light..not full speed RR. The fuckers wanted $40 a month for full speed.
The ball and chain is a good man. He doesn't ask much of me..a meal a day prepared for him, feed and care of all the critters and he gets to go out once a week and get shit-faced with his cronies.Sex is optional and at my discretion..I do know how to negotiate sportsfans. I did however, in all honesty, have an ulterior motive for going to a dish system.
I coveted the NFL Network. Our cable company doesn't offer it. I wanted it. Bad.
After 45 minutes of shucking and jiving with Dish Network..I managed to get everything that would make us both happy and the bill was down to $71 a month. This is minus the internet connection. But Dish was happy as a fucking clam to hook me up with SBC/Yahoo DSL for an additional $25 a month.
So, in reality I wasn't going to save us a whole helluva lot. $96 a month vs. $126. But $30 bucks IS $30 bucks, right folks? For a year, that comes out to $360..which is a decent amount. Thats an extra trip to Vegas in my book and the ball and chains too.
So it was hooked up yesterday. The picture is awesome. I can actually read the crawler on the bottom of the TV screen, unlike with cable.
But the ball and chain wouldn't let this go. When he called to cancel the cable last night, THEY offered him a GREAT deal. They said hey dude, come back and we will lower your bill to HALF for a year. The ball and chain..with dollar signs swimming in his little hazel eyeballs, came running back to my part of the house and commenced to argue for going back to cable.
I said..what happens after a year fuckwit o' mine? He said..well, it goes back up to $126 a month. I said..and we will go through this same shit again this time next year, right? No, we stay with Dish..fuck cable and the games they play with our wallet. Fuck em long and hard.
The ball and chain won't let this go. He is now down at the cable company, getting their bottom dollar in writing. I have to hook up my DSL today, which I don't relish one friggin iota, since it probably means re-doing my wireless router too.
This little situation is far from over..I know its not. His arguement now? He gets 5 more HBO and SHOWTIME channels with cable than with DISH..
Who gives a shit? Not me..I got my NFL Network. I am not giving that up for a couple more channels showing the same shit as what's on the other 8 HBO channels. No sir, not moi.
To be continued...
PS...Collage football Coach,Bo Schembechler has just died at 77 years of age..Michigan fans are gonna be sad this week :(
OK..I sense a trend here on Moments in Time..I am stuck on airline bs..this new one is really a doozey;
A young man was arrested at small airport in Southern California for trying to carry-on a rubber band ball. First security officials suspected it of being a bomb, then they decided that anyone carrying a big rubberband ball must be smuggling drugs and/or on drugs:
Are the security people at airports all fuckwits? A g.d. rubberband ball? Do we perhaps hire the handicapped for these jobs?
A couple flying out of LA wanted to join the mile-high club..bad move my beauties..
Some stewardess, who probably hasn't had sex this year..got nasty and told them to stop. They didn't. They were told to stop again..the male told said Stew..to stfu and leave them alone or there would be serious consequences..
Ok, that was enough. The Stew had them arrested for threatening her when they landed..seriously...under the Patriot Act.
Read all about it here...jeebus..you just can't enjoy yourself on a flight anymore.
I am sure by now you all have heard about the huge sunami that hit the Japan coast.. Huge only if your hung like a flea..it was a whole 16 inches..not feet..inches..
I have been ignoring this blog for months. I post sports because I don't want to actually think, but figure I needed to put something up for the 50 folks that still stop by every day..god, people..GET A LIFE!!!
Just kidding about getting a life..
The election is over, and I am taking a break from informing the world about all the bullshit put upon us by the current administration. My brain is fried on politics. I got enough shit to deal with..like the 3 discs that are gone in my back, and other assorted things.
My blog bud John aka John Q. Public, has moved from Indiana to Phoenix...god knows why..but it just goes to show I haven't kept up on my non-political blogs in forevah! I want to enjoy some life, read some funny and/or interesting blogs that have nothing to do with politics..I need to get back into the swing of life.
So, consider this a new page, a new day, and perhaps this blog will contain funny stuff again, as well as the strange and friggin weird stuff than I am known and loved for..at least by the freaks of the world..
Until I get going..this is the best you get today. I have to quit reading political shit and start reading funny stuff again..its going to be tough, But..I know I can do it..life is too short and the Dem's better not fuck it up now that they have control of both houses come January!
BBL freaks..have a good day. Afterall, your dumb ass could get hit by a beer truck and make your significant other,or closest relative very rich... tata for now :)
This dipshit couldn't find his ass w/both hands..seriously. He already got nailed this year with a four game suspension for violating the leagues drug rules..and then gets a DUI. Can you say
FUCKWIT?
Why do these guys think they are untouchable? Are they really felony dumb? I know playing football isn't akin to rocket science..but for the love of god..get a clue dude.
Frankly, I am glad it wasn't Dusty Baker..not only because it would be weird for moi to talk about someone else named Dusty..I just wasn't fond of the man's methods.
I hope Buddy is the key to the next level for my boys in San Diego. But I think they need more than just a decent manager. John Fuckwit Moores needs to open the ole wallet too. Something he hasn't been very good at in a long time.
First off, they sent Josh Barfield to the Indians. I will miss him, he was a good kid, decent player. They got infielder Kevin Kousmanoff and pitcher Andrew Brown. I will have to look these guys up since I don't have a friggin clue who the hell they are. Josh was 3rd in the League with only 9 errors. His BA wasn't too bad for a rookie: 280.
That well-tanned freak, GM Kevin Towers has commenced his wheel and deals starting with Barfield. He is after Gary Sheffield and the second part of the Giles brothers, Marcus..and will only have to give up set-up man Scott Linebrink, who is one of the best in the business imo.
Can't wait to see what happens..the party has just begun.
Oh yeah..the Dem's swept the table on Tuesday night..This might not make all my readers happy but it put a smile on my face.
Of course if you can't vote often...vote at least once ok? Since we use Diebolds, I am not really sure I voted...Now on to the sports..
The Free Agents are thick as thieves already..not a surprise of course..Baseball players file whether they are changing teams or not.
Looks like Dusty Baker will be the Padres Skipper..strange isn't it? Bruce Bochy goes to the Giants( I am still depressed over that) and a former Giant skipper goes to the Padres..
Football and Basketball are not filling my days like baseball did..I am jonesing bad. I fiddle with my fantasy teams, trying to fill the void left by the end of the baseball season..
Meanwhile, if the Repubes maintain control of both houses of Congress I will be nailing that bottle of Skyy vodka I have in the kitchen cupboard.
American League: P -- Kenny Rogers, Detroit C -- Ivan Rodriguez, Detroit 1B -- Mark Teixeira, Texas 2B -- Mark Grudzielanek, Kansas City 3B -- Eric Chavez, Oakland SS -- Derek Jeter, New York OF -- Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle OF -- Torii Hunter, Minnesota OF -- Vernon Wells, Toronto
Glad Kenny Rogers got one..he was something to behold. No Boston GG's however..oh well.
National league: P -- Greg Maddux, Los Angeles C -- Brad Ausmus, Houston 1B -- Albert Pujols, St. Louis 2B -- Orlando Hudson, Arizona 3B -- Scott Rolen, St. Louis SS -- Omar Vizquel, San Francisco OF -- Carlos Beltran, New York OF -- Mike Cameron, San Diego OF -- Andruw Jones, Atlanta
Personally I saw Cameron screw up ALOT of easy catches, so I am some what mystified about his GG..but hell..who am I but just a rabid fan longing for some Baseball.
According to FoxSports, Harold will be lawyering in the near future. Harold..good luck dude..I did appreciate your work, and I can't stand BBT since you left. Kruk only goes so far and Stevie sucks pond scum.
Red Auerbach passed away Saturday..he was 89. If you are a Boston Celtic fan..you also were a Red fan. Red and his big-ass cigar that was always hanging out of his piehole. He lead the Celt's to 16, count em, 16 Championships as either their Coach or GM. He signed such talent as Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Bill Russell. His Celts won 8 straight titles at one point.
When I lived in Boston ,I loved going to the Garden. When they tore down the original Boston Garden I shed a tear and raised a glass to the first place I ever attended an NBA game. Red was still employed by the Celtics, as their President, when he died.
I will toast him today..one of the great old men of round ball.
Congrats to the St. Louis Cards and their fans. I was compelled to put that in. LaRussa finally pulled it off.
I have been trying to post on Blogger since Sat. Morning..bitch is sure fickle lately.
They commit errors in each game. Their pitching isn't up to snuff. They get a lead and they can't hold it. The odds of them winning the next three games are slim and none.
But I hold out hope none the less.
To make matters much worse..Bruce Bochy has agreed to manage the friggin San Fran Giants. He is abandoning my Padres.
I am off to take a pill for the physical pains of a trashed back. I hope the emotional pains take a hike whilst I sleep. I suppose it could be worse..the Padres could be moving to Las Vegas or my mother could call and announce she is coming here for the winter instead of San Diego...
It was friggin sad to watch. They ended the first half and began the second half...with an interception..
By two different QB's..The Tuna looked suicidal from there on out. I thought he was going to cry during the post-game Q&A, which in and of itself is scary. This from a man that will tell a member of the media to fuck off quicker than I can tell my son no when he wants to borrow some money. He apologized for 20 minutes, for the love of god.
As for Kenny Rogers..it doesn't matter. People who have played the game weighed in and basically told ESPN to shut the fuck up about it. As long as it did not change the way the ball behaved, they all do it and no one gives a shit. I don't care if cat shit gave him a better grip on the ball..it does not change the ball's spin. Now...if only we wouldn't spend the remaining games getting shots of all the pitchers palms.
The temp at gametime was in the 30's, guys were bundled up like they were in the artic, it was strange to see. Tonights game was grrrrreat. 3-1 was the Final score. Kenny Rogers the 41+ year old pitcher was en fuego. He threw 99 pitches in 8 innings, not giving up a run. He now has 23 consecutive post season innings without a run. Can you say awesome?
I can. The man is freaking instense. 46,000 fans screaming his name. Well, make that 46,001. I was driving the cats mad with my yelling. Todd Jones gave up a run in the 9th inning..fucker. Ol Sparky Anderson was there to root on his Tigers. The St. Lou catcher, Yadier Molina, took a baseball to the nads, poor dude..he was hunched over for a few minutes.
Kenny was told to go wash his hands early in the game by the Ump. No one is saying what, if anything he had on his fingers. The Cards could of got him tossed if they had bitched about it. BBT is saying it was pine tar. Rogers said in the post game interview it was "dirt"...oookay.
He actually pitched better AFTER he washed his hands. So, I don't care at this point.
The series moves to St. Lou for three games starting Tuesday.
On the football front, the Chargers lost to a rotten team today. KC beat em and it's being reported by ESPN, that Shawn Merriman of the Chargers will be cooling his heels for 4 games for steroid use. Damn, they just dont get it. Roids....
The first game in Detroit had lots of ambience..intros to the lilting tones of...Ted Nugent. The Star Bangled Banner was scraped for America the Beautiful by Bob Seger. It was a moving and rock-filled beginning...then..
Detroit went down the tubes fairly quickly. The rookie pitcher for St. Lou, Anthony Reyes pitched a gem. Only 4 hits in 8 innings and two lousy batters crossed home plate. The Detroit pitcher was also a rookies and his stats weren't that sterling. Justin Verlander didn't do bad..he just wasnt' as good as Reyes with 5 innings pitched, 6 hits and 6 earned runs. Damn..
Game 2 is tomorrow 5pm Left Coast time..I will assume the position and watch with anticipation. Come on Kenny Rogers..get the Tigers a win darlin..you can do it.
It's always fine with me to have a series go 7 games. Now, I just want a good final game. If the Cards win, good for them..and for B. B is a pessimistic Cards fan. First, he had the audacity to say my Padres would beat him. I went along with it...what the hell.
Then he said the Cards would win 1 game in this final series before the World Series. You know, I think he was probably sandbagging. Damn, I hate sandbaggers. But the Mets did their best pitcher tonight..last years Cy Young winner Chris Carpenter. Sorry for the loss B, but he can't win them all.
I am still rooting for the Tigers in the World Serious..no, its not a typo..not for a manic like moi.
Then I have Football and roundball is starting up. I will be semi-lost until spring training. But sports are sports..I hooked up my wireless router tonight. I can haul the laptop all over the house now. Good stuff for a computer addict. It also means I can sit in the living room and talk to the ball and chain whilst being online. Nirvana some might call it. I just call it giving him some quality time..LOL..
So, the Cards need only 1 win to get into the World Series. The last two games will be played at Shea, but even this seems unlikely to help the Mets at this point. Jeff Weaver, the winner of last nights game, has pulled a Derrick Lowe-type of post-season out of his ass. Lowe had a horrible regular season the year the BoSox won it all, but he was the savior for them in the playoffs..Weaver reminds me of Lowe at this point.
I am rooting for the Tigers anyway..so I don't care who wins the NLCS. Jim Leyritz, come on down old man..I hope you get the ring. With all that time off between the ALCS and this weekends start of the World Series..I hope your pitchers are well rested.
Steve "Psycho" Lyons won't lose his part-time gig with the Dodgers and Sweet Lou Pinella has stuck up for him both in print and on the air, with regard to the tacky and supposed racist statement/joke he made on national tv during the ALCS.
Speaking of "Sweet" Lou Pinella, he is now the proud manager of those shitty Chicago Cubs. Lou has very little patience and one would think managing the Cubbies will try all the patience he has..Good Luck Lou..your gonna need it, along with some tranquilizers..
Koren Robinson, WR for the Packers and world-reknown drunk has gotta a year off....without pay from the NLF. He plead guilty to charges of drunken driving and fleeing police stemming from a high-speed chase in August. This wasn't Koren's first brush with the law whilst drunk...nor his second. Koren had this to say after the NFL told him to sober up for a year: "I am disappointed".
No shit jackass..so is Green Bay. You screwed up with Seattle and Minnesota as their star drunk..you get a third shot and what do you do? You get hammered and played high-speed chase with the cops again..some folks are felony dumb..I am looking at you Koren. Hope you saved some of the major league dough you have made..a year is a long time to go without a paycheck.
The Mets evened up the score Sunday night. I have to admit, I was starting to wonder about them. Tomorrow is another game. The Cards are proving to be a formidable foe..dammit.
Football was good and bad today. Terrell finally found the endzone..3 times to be exact. BFD. The Chargers scored their asses off against a lousy team. BFD. Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Steel curtain beat the bejeezuz out of the Kansas City Chiefs franchise 45-7. Three of their regular starters didn't suit up for the Steelers, which does make the huge blowout even more interesting..are the Steelers finally gelling or are the Chiefs that friggin bad? The Chiefs backup QB has been quite decent lately..but evidently not this weekend.
But I have decided to keep Big Ben on my fantasy rosters for another week, like I have a choice at this point in the season... He is my backup QB, so no fear. When Big Ben was asked what changed this week he said:
"I tried throwing to the guys in the black shirts rather than the guys in the white shirts," -Good answer dude, like your sarcasim.
Damn dude..you said what? But its all about Political Correctness evidently over at Fox Sports. Unlike the "news" dept..but we won't go there.
I liked Psycho when he co-anchored the original FSN verson of SportsCenter. It wasn't his first offense at being offensive on the air apparently, he has practice.
Oh fucking well. Sorry your leaving dude..take care.
Tigers in the World Serious. Cool. Congrats to Jimmy Leyland and the boyz..
In a 7 game series that isnt' shit..seriously..it's not.
But I am rooting for the NL leader in wins..why you ask?
Because I can not root for the team that knocked my Pad's out of the playoffs..very simple no?
Tommy Glavine was one of the best..in his prime. The only thing he has going for him now is that he has been in the playoffs a million times..He's been to the big show.
ok..not a million..but close..He is a great pitcher to have on your team when everyone gets the fucking jitters in the playoffs becuase they have never been there.Glavine has been there with the Braves..alot. And he can tell them what its like. His clubhouse presence matters at this point. He doesnt' get the jitters..he loves this time of year. He lives for this time of year. Its what the whole fucking ball of wax is about...the playoffs..
And Tommy only allowed 4 hits..fuck me running..thats low..I would kill for Tommy to have been on the Pads..Hes fucking 40 years old for the love of god..give him his due ok? This is the best of the best...suck it and deal.
Since most of the Mets have been with the friggin Dodgers at some point in the last two years..god knows I love em because they are no longer with the Dodgers..fuck the Dodgers. fuck em hard with a big ol pole. Mota was with the Dodgers last year and they had no faith in him. So Fuck the Dodgers....who is the getting tee times?
And as for Weaver....that fucking space cadet...he only gave up 4 hits too. But the difference was the 2 runs he handed them. Glavine gave up zero runs..This time of year..every run counts.Besides..Weaver is a mench..a fucking mench..he is either good or bad.no in between.
But the difference tonight was The Cards don't have a pitching staff...its a fact jack. Their closer..Izzy is out..the rest of the pitchers depend on the offense getting some runs to cover their ass..yeah yeah yeah..Carp is last years Cy winner..bfd..he can't pitch every damn game.
So my money is on the Muts..god bless those former Dodgers, every one.
