4:20, Baseball and Net Neutrality..not in that order..

I was happy to watch the Tigers beat the A's. One of the sports blogs I comment on told me baseball is gay. Fuck that blowhard bag of batshit...not literally..he gets a shitload of readers, whereas I am lucky to get the occasional bored soul.

It is not gay however.

Lynchburg VA's own Brandon Inge was the player of the game. I didn't get to see Jim Leyland trying to snitch a smoke ..dammit. I get a smile when I see him do that. I know, thats weird..but hey. c'est moi.

Long-ass day. Not as bad as black dogs but a long hard day none the less..4:20 couldn't come fast enough. The Net Neutrality thang was excellent. I taped the audio portion of it and will play it back in the next couple of days and blog the good, important stuff. My two dear readers need to at least blog about it..the whole Net Neutrality thang affects us all, regardless of personal beliefs or politics. I will be checking blogs and you guys know who you are..you will break my heart if you don't post about it...enough of that shit for tonite.

I gotta get comfy. Have a good Hump day ya'll..I have been sitting in this chair much too friggin long today.

Net Neutrality-Bill Moyers on America, PBS Wed. night.

If your reading this blog, net neutrality is important to you. If you use Google, or read news reports online or do research..net neutrality is important to you. If you want to do anything on the internet, net neutrality is important to you. Thats why you need to watch Bill Moyers show Wednesday at 9m on PBS. You can catch a short clip of the show here.

Its about freedom, net neutrality. Freedom of speech, freedom that we have enjoyed, up until the cable providers got involved in trying to take it all away.

ATTENTION KMART SHOPPERS: The PBS Moyers show on Net Neutrality is NEXT WED. the 18th..sorry..my bad...gives me more time to do an excellent writeup..

Breaking News: Torre out per NY Daily News

I do NOT live in NYC, so I have no idea of the validity of this article, but here it is. ESPN is also reporting Sweet Lou Pinella will replace him..

Damn..thats harsh. A winning season and the playoffs every year and your ass is still gone..ain't that some shit...

Dodgers OUT...Pads still hanging on by a thread.

The fact stated above makes me happy. Very happy, because even if the Pads get tossed tomorrow, the Dodgers went out before us..

Hey, I need something to hang onto.

With the pitchers going tomorrow..I can only hope and pray. Woodie is an old man...Carpenter is last years Cy Young winner..doesn't bode well for my Pads..but you know what?

I still love the game. And I still love my Pads.specially since they lasted longer than the Dodgers :)

I love that Detroit is in the next round. God love em and Jim Leyland, I know I do. The A's and the Tigers..wotta matchup! Come on kids..rejoice muthafuckas!

Kenny Rogers is da man. Seriously, I have had his measly ass in all my fantasy leagues for the past two years. He is almost as old as Roger the Rocket Clemens(41 as opposed to 42)..but unlike Roger, he is still playing and not getting a Tee time for his golf game. Kenny has spunk as witnessed by his assault of a photog last season. Not that I condone such behavior..just saying..

God damn, I love this game! and screw you that don't. Well, not really, but you know what I am saying I hope. Life is more than paying the mortgage and credit card bills..its about the wide world of sports too..

among other things..

As for Baseball..looks like the Dodgers and Padres are going down..and congrats to the A's fans that swept the poor Twinkies today. I am looking forward to the Yanks/Detroit game on next. Peace to all..and good sports as well..hockey season starts up this week..and football is going strong..later my dear reader.

A Lasorda post season extravaganza..

Well, its just a commerical for ESPN's post season games..but its better than last years commercials. Hey, its only 30 seconds..chill.

How to fake your way through the Baseball playoffs

Perhaps some of you don't know shit about baseball. You read this blog because your bored out of your mind and find it better than cartoons, or actually working during the day..I dunno.

So, we here at Moments in Time, have found the perfect primer for those of you that can't find your ass with both hands with regard to the baseball playoffs :) Its from my daily political spot, Slate.com. Here are a few do's and dont's:

American League Division Series: Oakland A's vs. Minnesota Twins
Historical context: Oakland won the World Series in 1989, thanks to the syringe-powered exploits of "Bash Brothers" Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. Suggest to your viewing partners that light-hitting A's outfielders Jay Payton and Mark Kotsay should henceforth be known as the "Sucky Siblings."

American League Division Series: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees
Historical context: The 26-time champs haven't won it all since 2000, falling to the Diamondbacks and the Marlins in their last two World Series appearances. With no traditional Yankees rivals in the AL field, debate whether losing to the Twins, Tigers, or A's would cause Billy Crystal the most embarrassment.

I am skipping the Dodgers/Mets series since I am praying to GOD that the Dodgers lose..so onto the National League Division Series: St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres

Conversation starter: "I guess La Russa can't be blamed for the Cards' 4.54 team ERA." Conversation stopper: "But he deserves all the blame for that greasy mullet."

Conversation starter: "Cla Meredith was the best relief pitcher in the majors this year." Conversation stopper: "The only stat I care about is the Cuteness Factor."

-personally, I would smack the shit out of you if you use the Convo stopper we share in the section above :)

Enjoy the games!

Baseball..god I love this sport.

We are now less than 24 hours from the start of the playoffs. Praise Jesus! ESPN has a nice list of 100 things they love about this years playoffs, thanks Bruce for the link :)..some of the funny and not so funny ones:

61. Coming to the conclusion that if Nick Swisher were an adult film star his stage name would be … Nick Swisher.
47. Chris Carpenter's attempt to prove a one-man starting rotation is good enough to lead a team to a World Series title.
42. More camera shots of Joe Mauer's girlfriend.(They have a pic of her up..she is a looker)
32. Watching Padres catcher Mike Piazza throw two-hoppers to second base.
23. Potential camera shots of Tigers manager Jim Leyland stealing a smoke.
13. The possibility of St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols facing Hoffman in the bottom of the ninth with the game on the line.

Padres win the west, Titan stomps on a players head that was minus a helmet.

The fuckwits from St.Louis will have to come to San Diego after losing their final game of the season to...

The Brewers..The Cards have lost 7 of their last 10 games while the Padres have won 8 of their last 10. I will not wish the Cards luck, fuck em..its every fan for their team at this juncture. Luis "Gonzo" Gonzalez was a good player that won the 7th game of the World Series for the Dbacks against the Yanks so many moons ago. I was living in AZ for that series..and I can still see Luis smiling through his tears on the field after the game was over. They will miss him in AZ, the fans that is..the owners..not so much..they told him months ago he wouldn't be back as a Dback..Luis isn't ready to hang up his glove..so I hope he finds a team that will appreciate him as a person and a player. BTW..the Padres win was pretty ugly today..it ended on a call that didn't look right to me or the announcers I was listening to. Hope the Dodgers get their asses handed to them when they visit the Mets in:

1 day 22 hrs 23 mins 1 sec
I do love the Tommy Lasorda commericals for the Playoffs..The man is a fan and I do heart his spirit :) Thats the only time you will hear me say anything good about a former or current Dodger...If I can find any of his new commericals on YouTube, I will post them.

Now, the Titan with the over-abundant supply of testosterone was Albert Haynesworth. Fat Albert has been in trouble before, but this one takes the cake..he stomped on the head and face of a player that had just gotten a TD for Dallas. His helmet had come off..and there was Albert..standing above the fallen player..

Andre Gurode said he did not have any words with Albert prior to the face stomping. He had to get stitches in his forehead and below his eye. Fucking Fat Albert is lucky he didnt' take the guys eye out. Then the sumbitch had the nads to protest the call of unsportsmanlike conduct and toss HIS helmet, which thankfully got his ass tossed out of the game. I heard that this isn't Alberts first brush with unsportsman-like conduct. I hope they toss his ass for the rest of the season. Sure, there is emotional highs and lows on a football field, but to kick/stomp the face of a man laying at your feet is pure and simple evil..the man has problems and they need to be addressed before he is allowed on the field of play. This is a game..its a fucking game played for lots and lots of money and glory. But that shouldn't provide a backdrop for intentionally going after a player who has said or done nothing to piss you off, other than scoring on your worthless ass. Be a man, suck it up and deal Albert you douchebag.

Ok..the Pads and the Dodgers are in the playoffs..

For the first time in the Pads 37 year history, they will go to the playoffs in consecutive years. Whether they go as NL West or the wild card, will be determined by tomorrows games. If both the Pads and Dodgers win tomorrow, the Pad's win the NL West by having won the most head to head games this season.

Trevor is now in the hunt for the CY..have read it on more than a few sites, and with the records he holds as of this year..He fucking should be. David Fatass Wells got the win today. Gonzo played his last game as a Dback. I love Gonzo..

Sweet jesus, Wells just gave a hat tip to my town and his..Ocean Beach Cali..on National TV..in previous posts I have regaled you with tales of drinking and womanizing by Fatass as witnessed by moi in OB on many occasions..fucker has even bought me a drink or two when he was drunk on his ass..damn, it doesn't get better than this..well it does..but for today, this will do.

Well this certainly sucks.

The hated Dodgers and the Padres are tied for 1st in the NL West. Friggin MLB will not show me todays game since FOX Sports has a right to all games shown prior to 4pm Cali time My Pads-Dbacks game will start in 15 minutes.

FUCKING BULLSHIT! Fox is showing the g.d. Dodger game. At least I won't have to listen to the ball and chain whooping and hollering..he has a birthday party to go to..

Since when do old farts have birthday parties? Answer: When they are all drunks that use any excuse to drink and be merry. Fine with me however..I will sit and "watch" my game on Sportsline.com...which isn't really watching it, so much as a 5 minute delay of stats for what is happening live on the field..oh fucking goodie.

Here is your Sat. Mammal blogging..hope I haven't shown these before..
This isn't my pic..I don't allow my cats to smoke..drink yes, but never smoke.

These are my kids when they were newly hijacked from their feral mom..they were just becoming housecats and skittish as hell. They are now well adjusted house kitties that drive us insane.

I got this off the 'net too..its so damn cute.

T.O. tries suicide..then says he didn't

Who friggin knows with this whackjob? Sportsline has the lastest..he's catching passes this afternoon and it was all a mistake..

or a bad reaction...

or the supplements he was taking..

or pick a new one..this guy is nucking futs..and the biggest attention ho this side of pluto.

A copy of the unedited police report is here from the smoking gun. The cops are now blacking out most of the info if you request a copy of the report per various sources.

Oh Sweet Jesus, its almost playoff time in baseball!

In 6 days, 20 hours, 32 minutes and 13 seconds they begin. The Baseball playoffs.

I am so excited. I love this time of year. Even if MY team doesn't make it into the playoffs, I love them. My Padres are in 1st in the NL West by two games as I write this..although they are attempting to give this evenings game to the St. Louis Cards..bastards. The Dodgers, the ball and chains team, are beating the Rockies..and since the Phillies lost today, I guess thats a good thing for the hated Dodgers in the race for the Wild Card spot.

I could give a shit as long as my Padres don't give it up to the Dodgers..only 6 games left in the season. I just don't want to listen to a whole friggin winter of "my team made it, how about yours woman?". That shit tends to piss me off. I don't gloat...well, maybe here on the blog..but not to him. Its not nice to gloat.

The game now is..who will win the MVP, the Cy Young and the ROY (Rookie of the Year)? These awards are voted on by the baseball writers.. an illustrious group of fuckwits if ever I saw one. Half of them are egocentric blowhards, the rest are pretty good and sometimes quite funny. There is a nice breakdown of the players that might possibly win any of these awards over at SI.com

I would like to see Pujols win the MVP again..but the kid from Philly is looking like the sure winner. Ryan Howard would be the first Philly since Mike Schmidt to win the MVP. I still like Prince Albert. He is a good person, doesn't have a huge ego and truely cares about kids. His stepdaughter has downs syndrome and I think he has a non-profit organization that helps these wonderful kids. To me, an MVP is more than stats..its about character and Albert Pujols surely has that in massive amounts.EDIT: I have been informed that yes, A.Pujols has a foundation for exceptional kids, the linkage is here.

There are also whispers that my man Trevor Hoffman might get the CY..I am not banking on it because Brandon Webb really deserves it. I watched Webb come up through the Dbacks ranks when I lived in AZ.

When its all said and done baseball players are grown men playing a childs game for a whole lotta money.

OK, gotta root the Padres on..and my back is thrashed as it was physical therapy day..have a good Hump Day my dear reader :)

Etta Baker, Blues musician passes on.

She was 93, and influenced many a musician like Taj Mahal and Dylan. She started her career late in life according to this fine writeup about her on BET:
"As a professional musician, she was a late bloomer; she didn’t commit to being a blues artist until 1991 at the age of 60, after working 26 years at a textile mill in Morganton, N.C. Born on March 31, 19131 in Caldwell County, N.C., Baker took guitar lessons from her father as a child. Soon she became a superb practitioner of the Piedmont-style blues, which favored rhythmic guitar finger-picking, chattering vocals and opened tuning. In addition to being a well-kept music secret and working at a textile mill, Baker raised nine children."

Hope you can play with some of the greats that went before you Etta, rest in peace.

The Superdome once again hosts a football game.

Almost 70,000 people will celebrate pro football tonight in the Louisianna Superdome. The Saints are also unbeaten at this point in the young NFL season. I will be rooting for the Saints, if only because the residents of the area could use something to cheer about after enduring the last year of horror and broken promises. Plus I think I have a couple of players going tonight in a fantasy league or two..

GO SAINTS! Enjoy yourselves New Orleans :)

Trevor Hoffman, No. 51 : Off speed KILLS..

41,000 strong were at the ballpark today to see Trevor Hoffman record the save that put his name in the record books. He started as a Marlin in '93. He has only been on two teams his whole career, and he did it in 3 less years than Smith did. I watched it live on my laptop. I got misty I tell ya. So, in Trevors honor, we shall listen to Hells Bells, a song I have heard more than any other song in the friggin world..at least 300 ya know? Say what you want about the Pads, but they got him the game enough times over his career to get to 479, and all of two of them with the Padres. At the last game of the last homestand of the year..all fucking right dude :)

478..its a great number tonight for Padre fans.

Trevor Hoffman tied Lee Smith for saves tonight. The ol man is going to set the new record this year for saves..god love him..I sure do.

Oh yeah..the Dodgers are losing as I type this..

478..I really never thought Hoffman would do it after he blew his arm out a couple of years back..just makes me proud ya know?

We still have never had a no-no..but tonight..who cares?

Touchdown Jeebus pulls one out of his robe.

What a game. 3 TD's in about 5 freaking minutes..ND does have someone watching over them.

Meanwhile..Padres tied w/ Pirates after 6 innings. 1-1 ..but the Dodgers aren't looking too good either.

Some Blues for your listening pleasure...

You win a toaster if you can tell me who this is and the name of the song..

SF Reporters given 18 months by Federal Judge

Fuck you U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White. He agreed with the prosecutor in the case and handed down an 18 month jail sentence to both Lance Williams and Mark Fainaru-Wada, authors of "Game of Shadows", the book about sports figures who cheat to gain an advantage. They refused to name the individual that provided them with confidential Grand Jury transcripts. The judge is allowing the reporters to stay out of jail pending an appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

But Barroid Bonds continues to play baseball and get paid millions and lie his worthless ass off about what illicit drugs he used when he set the record for most homeruns.

How is this justice? Plainly it isn't. But I salute the two reporters for keeping their yaps shut on their sources. Reporters are the guardians of truth and as such shouldn't be punished for providing it to the citizens when it comes to secret hearings and court proceedings. SI has a writeup here. The Feds fucked this whole BALCO investigation up from the start by allowing the manufacturers and distributors to basically go free, several did a few months.

No one has done 18 months who was guilty of anything, and there were plenty of guilty muthafuckers. With regard to the millions of tax dollars spent on the investigation and subsequent hearings and trials, its all bullshit..and a dog and pony show which gave the government the ammo it needed to lean on professional sports about their lack of testing for and punishment given out to players that use performance-enhancing drugs to gain an edge over their competitors.

Fuck you all, you federal bags of batshit..twice even.

A-rod..its all about A-Rod again?

There is no reason to concentrate on A-Rod, and I am tired of all the fucking print, web, tv and god knows what over media types I have missed that concentrate on A-fucking-Rod. He is but one cog in the wheel known as the Yanks. SI, the NYT, a plethora of media types are focused on one man and his numbers.

Are they jealous of what he makes? Who isn't for christs sake? He makes more than the entire team payroll for the Marlins.

Are they jealous of his talent? God was good to the boy..lets not quibble here.

Everyone is going off about all the A-Rod shit. Fuck him. The team would win with or without him. There is a me in Team but me only takes you so far..it won't keep you warm at night..and pumping up your own ego is highly over-rated.

Lets keep some things in perspective..the Marlins have won a World Series in the recent past....the Yanks have not. Lets keep the focus on the team..not A-fucking-Rod. I hate when the media makes a mountain out of a molehill of bullshit.

Good article up on Slate about..gasp..the NFL Sunday show

Its written by a guy that used to work as a film cutter at ESPN. He tells us what is wrong with the new Sunday game being on NBC and the group that makes up the "Football Night in America" studio gang. Let me just say this..Costas isn't Boomer, and he isn't kind to the new group giving us the days games and highlights. He does like the new NFL Network, which I don't get here in the friggin San Joaquin valley. The linkage to the article is here.

First penis transplant a sucess but the patient changes his mind.

Gee, its nice to know they are transplanting "johnson's" now, but for some reason the Chinese dude didn't like his and asked for it to be removed..friggin people..you can't make them happy no matter how you try. The article is here.

Now if only they could transplant Brains..we could move Bush to the head of THAT list.

Padres vs Dodgers..after two innings..

Its 4-2 Pads..

Both pitchers are pitching like shit. This was touted as ace vs. ace. Penny is sweating like a pig and Peavy is bitching and yelling at Piazza. There have been 10 hits through 2 innings...

Its gonna be a long night.

Rothlesberger and the Steelers aren't looking so hot either..but then neither are the Jax.

Like I said..its going to be a long night. My fantasy era is going upward each time Peavy takes the mound. I cringe at the mere thought of looking at my stats tonight.

On a positive note the new tv season starts. The two tv shows, not counting sporting events, I watch will premiere this week.

This just in..Mike Cameron..you fucking suck. Keep you eye ON the ball and Catch the fucking ball. Its not complicated you fucktard.

Should I continue to watch this trainwreck or watch whatever I was dvr'ing an hour ago?

Oh bfd. They split the series, it's the worst that can happen right? We are back with the Dodgers in front by half a freaking game. Pads still on top in the Wild Card party. Did the Mets clinch?

That bag of batshit in the livingroom has been hooting and hollering for five fucking minutes. God, can I kill him now? It's tied you dipshit, its still early and my pen is better than yours...I think.

This is so unfair on some level..

Its Monday..yuck

My back is killing me, I have to write up something to say in front of people for tomorrow..I would rather just show one of the three documentaries I rented. Our local arm of the World Cant Wait" is having a free showing of the Bush War Crimes Commission film tomorrow at BC..Bakersfield College.. its at 4pm in the Fireside room if any locals read my drivel..

Sports..Padres are back in 1st in the NL West..Praise Jesus, can I get an amen..probably not..this is Dodger country where I live..there is one more game tonite..Peavy vs. Penny..ace vs ace..hope its good..and we still maintain our standing in the division..

Things aren't looking too good for my 6 fantasy football teams.. but if Pitt's real QB plays tonite, and plays well I can pull a couple of wins out of my posterior..is it wrong to pray for such things? Probably..

I am in the final round of the Baseball fantasy Championship for a league I was never higher than 4th in all season..I beat the guy/girl that had been in 1st all season last week and it was a SURPRIZE sportsfans..I am proud of that fact even if I lose my ass in this final round..which btw runs the final two weeks of the real baseball season..it will be fun..and I plan on not stressing over it..because it isn't real..its fucking fantasy!

T.O..broke a finger..tsk tsk..couldn't happen to a nicer jackass in my opinion..I feel bad for the Cowboys though..Tampa Bay's D still looked like shit..I am hunting for a new Defense in most of my fantasy leagues..

Edit..this just in..Clarett plead guilty..saving the state some money. He will do a min of 3 and a half years..hope your asshole is clean and in good shape Mo..your gonna have plenty of use for that area of your body in prison.

Reggie Bush..you fucked up dude..

Why is it these guys can't hide the ill-gotten goods they get while playing college ball? I know they aren't going to school to learn anything but running back 101 or whatever the hell position they play..but jesus christ in a thong..its felony dumb when they get busted..not to mention they are making millions by the time they get busted and the only victim ends up being the college. As SI says..USC could have a whole season wiped off the books because of this friggin jackass. Pete Carroll is a tool also..he had to know something was up..Reggie was driving a tricked-out car courtesy of Micheals for starters according to the Yahoo Report..

Reggie might lose his Heisman..bfd..USC might lose alot more. The SF Chron has this masterful quote from Bush:

"It makes you want to go out there right away and tell your side of the story. Show everybody the facts, the truth. But you can't do that. That wouldn't be the right way to do it."

Look you stupid fuck..if you got something to cover your ass and USC's spill it. Anyway the writeup with Reggie's words of wisdom is here if your interested..plus it details all the crap these nimrods scored from the pissed off agent that didn't get to sign Reggie.

I just have one question....

Who in the blue hell dresses Lou Holtz for the College Football show on ESPN? For the love of God Lou..lose the friggin burnt orange jacket dude..it makes your face look orange.

On second thought..maybe the makeup artist was trying to match is face to the damn jacket..I don't know but he looks like an elderly pumpkin.

From our WTF? dept today..

T.O..refused to comment on something? Is the friggin sky falling? He wouldn't discuss the QB controversy in Dallas..what a shocker..perhaps its because the dipshit hasn't taken too many passes from either of them, or he finally saw Alex and bought a clue..or someone in the front office told him to shut the hell up for a change..

Steve Foley was shot in the back of the leg, twice even..yeah, the cop was skeered according to his side of the story, plus the sumbitch was off-duty,following Foley all the way to his house..fucking bastard..Foley is a big, black man..6'4" 260 lbs...in a very white, very rich part of San Diego, the island of Coronado. The investigators are recommending he be charged with a misdemeanor DUI, but won't release his b.a.c..

sorry, but I am calling bullshit on the charges against Foley. The DA's office is covering its lily-white ass. This is the second time they have jumped the gun on Foley, last time saying he attacked officers during another "altercation" but the DA didn't press charges due to lack of evidence that time..code for you lying bags of shit in blue uni's.

Foley will miss the entire season..hope the boys in blue are happy, they fucked him out of his livelyhood...racisim still comes in blue uniforms and wears a badge.. even in San Diego.

Blogger is a bitch today..and so am I

After trying numerous times to post today..this will be my last attempt..if blogger eats this..I am done for the day. My back is still killing me after Monday's physical therapy session..that ain't good.

My fantasy football teams did ok..4 wins, 2 losses. Fantasy sports games are nothing more than chance..that is my belief anyway..you can pick what you think are the best players available and if they don't get hurt or suck ass for some reason the entire season..then consider yourself lucky. Tampa, who had one of the best defenses' last year, sucked badly and I got creamed in both the leagues that I had them in. I will not panic..yet. Jake Delhomme sucked also but I had other players make up the difference..praise jeebus. I am not playing in yahoo's leagues this year, I gave FOX and Sportsline's leagues a try since they have live stat scoring for the whole year, which beats the shit out of Yahoo, who will only give you a taste of the live scoring then yank it away in a week or two like a drug dealer trying to hook you on crack..kiss my hairy ass Yahoo..twice even.

I did prevail in the Baseball playoffs but now I play the 1st place guy.I will be exiting the playoffs after this week..its a given at this point. I never beat the prick during the regular season, I don't see Buddha covering my ass during the playoffs against this guy.

The Padres still hold a tenuous lead in the Wild Card..only a game and a half..they lost last night in 11 innings, but so did the Dodgers..which gave me some comfort. The Pad's are playing 3 with the Reds so we will either increase our lead in the WC or drop like the proverbial turd in the toilet bowl of sports..

The Charges beat the Raiders, but thats not saying much. Poor Art Shell..why did that dumb ass come back to coaching and the Raiders no less..but we did beat them in their house..take that you freaks.

Its only 20 days 5 hours 19 min and 28 seconds till the playoffs commence in Baseball...

This is my favorite line from Fark this morning: ""The Government is staffed with mostly well-intentioned but incompetent people."--reminds me of my last job in San Diego..

The Hero's of 9/11 need our help.

(The picture is Ground Zero as it looks today)

The hero's I speak of today, are the firemen, policemen and volunteers that rushed to the twin towers after they collasped. They continue to suffer not just emotionally, but physically. The toxic materials that were pulverized by the destruction of the buildings entered their lungs as they dug through the debris looking for signs of life at first, then just looking for bodies to recover, and finally the construction workers that cleared the site. As the NYT article calls them, they are the Veterans of 9/11.

Roughly 40,000 individuals worked at the site of the twin towers, some for months and months on end. As Mount Sinai Medical Center reported last Tuesday, as many as seven in 10 of those who worked at ground zero and Fresh Kills on Staten Island have felt their lungs deteriorate because of their heroism. Yet many of these heros do not have health insurance five years after the fall of the towers. And the governments, both state and local, are not rushing to help them. People came as far away as Alaska to help in the recovery efforts at the site. Some of them worked with flimsy face masks, some with no protection at all. As one of the authors of the Mt. Sinai Report says: “There should no longer be any doubt about the health effects of the World Trade Center disaster,” said Dr. Robin Herbert, co-director of Mount Sinai’s World Trade Center Worker and Volunteer Medical Screening Program. “Our patients are sick, and they will need ongoing care for the rest of their lives.”

New York's Mayor Bloomberg isn't convinced of the on-going health issues of those that worked at the site. He is quoted as saying: “I don’t believe that you can say specifically a particular problem came from this particular event,”-I think The Mayor is a jackass for even thinking this, where is his compassion, how much digging did he do at ground zero?

As this article on Mt. Sinai's report states: “This was extremely toxic dust,” Dr. Landrigan said, noting that some samples showed the dust to be as caustic as drain cleaner. The dust also contained innumerable tiny shards of glass, which could get lodged in the lungs, and a stew of toxic and carcinogenic substances, like asbestos and dioxin, that could potentially lead to cancer decades from now.

There are studies that suggest over 40% of the workers do not have health insurance, yet they all suffer from some type of physical illness derived from their work at ground zero. The hero's that are suffering the worst were those that responded immediately after the towers collasped and spent days and weeks there digging among the ruins for victims. The most common problems are upper and lower respiratory problems. There are numbers of firemen and policemen that have died since the fall of the towers, from respiratory illness that their families are convinced happened because of their work at ground zero. Many workers are now too sick to work at their regular jobs and as such, have no health insurance as noted above. These individuals were there when it counted. We need to stand up for them now. We can not turn our backs on them. The federal government authorized 52 Million for healthcare of the individuals showing symptons of medical problems from their work at ground zero. Dr. John Howard, who was named the federal 9/11 health coordinator in February, has already said that the $52 million the federal government has appropriated for treatment late last year is inadequate. There is an ongoing study of the workers at ground zero called the World Trade Center Medical Monitoring Program. If you know someone that worked at ground zero, they need to access this program, the link is here.

Write to your elected representatives. Tell them that we will never forget the ones that served on that day and the months following when our nation was in shock and mourning the losses of thousands of individuals killed in the fall of the towers. Tell them that we need to take care of them as we have taken care of the families of those killed in the towers. Its the least we can do for those that served without a thought for their own safety and who now suffer for their heroism. Someone needs to speak for them. Most of them can barely speak for themselves because of their health problems. Don't let them be forgotten.

Its friday and its football season too..

Last night..a game. Can I get an amen? hey..check out this ad..the chick can crack walnuts some kinda bad eh?

Baseball however is still hot in this household.. only 24 days 21 hours 55min and 58 sec until the playoffs..The Padres still have a chance..

I am really craving a fine glass of wine. But all the meds dictate no..this so fucking sucks.

I need a release of some sort..I will get back to you on what I figure out. Meanwhile I gotta check my 8,567 fantasy teams..thats a friggin job unto itself.

Have a good, cool weekend..one more heatwave and I go postal.

Marlin's Sanchez tosses a No-No..

I am not so jaded with baseball that I don't get a smile on my face when a team gets a No-No. I say team because it is probably more of a team effort than a normal win. As the Rookie Manager, former Yank, Joe Girardi said.."when I was playing, I was scared I would be the one to screw it up."

Thats why the whole team gets a No-No. The Marlins have had 4 so far in their young history.

My Padres have never even had friggin 1.

Anibal Sanchez the rookie pitcher playing for the rookie manager got it done. Hope he basks in the glory of it tonight...cuz next year, every team will know what you got and when you toss it dude..

Marlins might still make the playoffs yet..and to think they have the lowest payroll in the bigs..$14,998,500, while A-fucking-Rod gets $25,680,727 all by his own self...ain't that some shit.

Edit: The Padre's won in the bottom of the 11th. A scoreless extravaganza up to that point. God I love this game. The winning homer was hit by a guy they just drug up from triple-A..I don't have a clue who the hell he is..but I heart the dude.

Padres closing in on first .....wonders will never cease!

The Dodgers lost..again, to the Milwaukee..puts us only 1 game back now..and a 2 game lead in the NL WC..jeebus christ I love this game...

Plus the new MLB package I ordered for the final month has some great program called Mosaic where you can watch 6 games at a time..I know...overkill..but I am loving it :)

My back is still screaming at me, the PT hasn't done much yet, but you have to realize I did nothing with it for 2 months whilst fighting the bastards at the insurance company..

My fantasy draft was fucked up tonight..Fox Sports can kiss my friggin ass..I did not want my first 6 pics to be 3WR's and 3RB's ya fucktards..not enough servers boys? That's ok..I have 4 other teams to fret over..this one wont' bother me if it goes south.

Its fucking hot and humid and that makes me a cranky bitch..

Pad's come from behind on Mikie's birthday..

And you know I am not a Piazza fan..right? But he drew a walk on his 38th birthday and Josh Barfield hit one out..it was sweet.

Especially since I signed up for the last month of the MLB package on my laptop. Wells didn't look too bad in his debut the other night.

Only 2 out of first in the NL West, leading the WildCard. Lots of baseball left to play..

Happy labor day..for what its worth in todays market :)

10,000 Reasons Civilization is Doomed

Cut-day in the NFL& weekend Mammal Blogging

Charles Rogers finally got cut, three years after being the 2nd pick in the draft. Rogers never lived up to his potential, much less play all season. Detroit must be happy to be free of him. Moe Williams got a pink slip as did Ron Dayne. The "Great" Dayne never did shit either..

Here is a Sat. Mammal blogging pic..

Breaking News: Wells is a Padre again.

For the love of god..when will this guy retire his fat ass? I mean really now..when do old, fat, broken-down, pompous lefties get shown the door? What can he contribute..

I am jaded yes...can you tell?

Pads play the Reds at home starting tonight..

YouTube Exclusive - CNN Anchor flushes during the Shrub's Katrina speech

YouTube - CNN Anchor Flubs Audio During Bush Katrina Speech

Its good..and she talks to some other chick in the bathroom about some guy or some shit..jeebus..its a WTF? moment..all the while, the video is the Shrub waxing poetic about the anniversary of Katrina.

It sucks to be her..a brief snip of one of many articles about the "big flush" and subsequent discussion:
"If there were red faces at CNN, no one would have been more embarrassed than Ms Phillips, who was first heard uttering "asshole", apparently in reference to a man. She then spoke of her own husband in entirely more flattering terms."

The art of the Huddle..a bunfest extravaganza

Well, I really didn't have enough football pics to pull this off, so there is one baseball pic on the cube..

This should make everyone's day..

Michael Jackson turns 48..physically. With all the nose-jobs and other shit he has done to his perverted self..its hard to tell how old most of the body parts are..

On the sports front..Joey Porter looks good, and hes a BakeTown boy..this pic is for Stiltwalker..it beats a pic of Mikey Jackson any fucking day of the week.

And our quote of the day regarding the Donte Stallworth trade from a former team mate:
"I don't know what we got, but they got a hell of a deal."
-- Saints WR Joe Horn upon learing that New Orlelans traded wideout Donte' Stallworth to the Eagles

thats all I got..I am hurting bad..that cortisone shot yesterday really sucks so far..wtf?
Monday, August 28, 2006 | By: Unknown

Barroid Bonds trainer back in the slamma..

Good place for him. Barroid must be paying him well to keep his yap shut..how else do you explain it?

In other news..the Eagles got Donte Stallworth in a trade today. They gave up a linebacker and a bag of footballs..

In our WTF? Dept..Jeff "fuckwit" George..who has been out of football for 5 years signed with the Raiders..Sweet Jesus in a Speedo..do they just want him to clean up the locker room after games?..what other purpose could he serve? He sucked as a QB, even when he played every season..the man has a losing record and a 'tude to boot when he DID play..

I had my cortisone injection today..I am up taking some pain meds..caught up on my sports fix..and I am back to the sack..with the cats and the remote..lata

TO finally fined for his shenanigans..

Terrell Owens, who has had three teams in three years, has been fined by the Cowboys. This is the man you love to hate. He seems to love that role, no matter where he goes. No one disputes his talent as a wide receiver. No one disputes his ego and ability to disrupt a team either..

So Jerry Jones, the asshat extrodinaire that signed this bozo full of talent and ego has finally fined him. The fine is a paltry 9,500 bucks. This is nothing to T.O. with the loot he is pulling in from Jones's wallet. Bear in mind that both MRI's have shown nothing wrong, although TO states he 'hurts" regardless of what the MRI's show. He hurts yet he is constantly late for medical rehab sessions. He has also missed a team meeting and arrived late to some. This is also the nimrod that wore a racing helmet when he was on stationary bike duty..All I can say is..WOTTA DICK! The linkage to the writeup is here.

Thanks to Fortress of Pillows for the link to the writeup.

If the Dodgrs lose, it could get interesting here.

The Padres have..gasp..won another game. The Reds are tanking like large marge in the Boston marathon. Before tonights game the Dodgers have lost 4 in a row.

If you follow me..the hapless Pad's could very well be tied for first in the NL West and own first place in the wild card race. Of course this could all change tomorrow..thats the beauty of it all.

Look, this is a big deal to me, its either this or sleep alot..I am back in physical therapy and still don't get why I hurt so damn much when its supposed to help..perhaps I need to lay off the pain pills..or maybe not. I am taking so many meds I need an excel spreadsheet in order to keep from over-dosing my dumb ass.

I have been civil to the ball and chain..no more gloating..sometimes gloating can bite you in the ass..I hate when that happens, so I avoid it at all costs.

In other news..Koren Robinson got cut from the Vikes..see what happens when you drink and drive and try to evade the police? 12 Mill down the tubes..And some people call me a dipshit..

The Yank$ lost a slugfest to the California-Anaheim-LA-Orange County Angels today. I am sorry for their loss..well, not really but their fans must be busting a artery, that makes 4 in a row I think. I am pretty sure the Yank$ are going to the playoffs, the BoSox..I ain't so sure of..

EDIT: The Dodgers pulled it out of their ass..so the Pads are still on wild card watch..ok..I will shut up now.

The "Lets make fun of celebrities" post..

Over at one of the gossip rags I amuse myself with lately, there is a post up that has pictures of celebrity highschool or elementary school mug shots..ok, their not mug shots..but most are butt-fugly.. take George Clooney's pic..jeebus, thats nasty..

If your trying to avoid reality today, or its a slow sports day, which is my case.. go check out IdontLikeYouInThatWay.com and make fun of how bad some folks that make alot of money looked when they were kids..

Raccoons gone wild..

Good friggin lawd..this story is a freaking trip..in Olympia, WA, roving bands of racccoons are attacking people, killing cats and dogs..wtf? Its no joke apparently..read it here.. thanks to the dudes at Deadspin for the link..

I thought Deadspin was a sports site/blog..apparently they wander off topic too on slow news days..

I figured the dumbass pic of coon humping dog was better than a coon ripping apart someone's family pet.

Dodgers suck..at least this series they do.

Allow me to..ahem..gloat. It doesn't happen often..and god knows it feels real FUCKING good to do it to the DODGERS..so just allow me this tiny bit of "kiss my ass" to the ball and chain. The meltdown and subsequent tossing of Grady, Julio and I think Brad Penny, was icing on the cake. I swear to god, I thought the ball and chain was gonna blow open an artery..it was pure heaven to watch :)

Breaking News: Terrell Owens is a lying bag of shit

According to T.O..he reinjured his hammy..not playing a real game mind you..just during drills..nevermind that doctors can't find a fucking thing wrong with this bag of batshit..

How he keeps a straight face during his interviews is beyond me.
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 | By: Unknown

Padres win two in a row..

And the best part of all..its against the DODGERS..

Praise jesus...seriously..I needed something to cheer about tonight.

The ChiSox manager..Ozzie, got his ass tossed in the 2nd as the wheels continue to fall off the bus for the World Series winners.

Will the Mets be the team to beat in the playoffs NL-wise?

B..sorry bout your Cards..Pujols,7 rbi's and they still lose?

These are all rhetorical questions.. But this one isn't..wtf is up with Bryant "Fuckwit" Gamble, the man has lost it..at least Robert Smith says so here.

The back is toast..gotta go.

Axl Rose must be desperate..

The man is bringing his "show" to BakeTown..yes to my humble burg Axl and his most recent lineup of Guns n' Roses is pulling into town on Sept. 29th..

I have mixed feelings about this..

I want to go, but I don't..I have read that his voice sucks and so does the show..

But I loved GnR..truely I did..

Tickets go onsale Saturday..where did I put that credit card? Perhaps the ball and chain hid the sucker after he read the same article I did in the newspaper. Axl hasn't played SoCal in 14 years..at least not this neck of the woods.

13 yr old Little Leaguer is 6'8"

ok..and he's how old you say? He is an american kid playing for the Saudi team, and did so also last year. Its a good read if your into sports or just a good, heart-warming story. The kid is a gentle giant and it can't be easy living in the Middle East especially since your parents are Americans. The linkage to the SI story is here. I do not really watch the Little League World Series at this point..but I do check the scores for favored cities results..

The weekend is almost over...

And no one is happier than the Boston Red Sawx..no one, trust me on this.. They even called up triple-a pitchers in the dead of night for the love of god..

They , meaning the Sawx, are leading the Sunday night game as I write this..I ain't taking nothing for granted, no winner to call at this point in the game. The whole series has been like a bad dream for the BoSox.
THIS JUST IN...The Boston Massacre continues..Yank$ won..and there's another game tomorrow between these two..oh joy.

Padres play the Dodgers starting Monday..they did win today to get back to .500, praise jesus for small miracles I guess..

Tiger won another major..good for him..I did at least play him in my Fantasy Golf league..

Fox sports has a decent free Fantasy Football League..I took part in a draft today..someone actually asked..Whats a Tight End? during the draft...and this person is playing FF why? I smell a setup in this league..

I hope I get to play that person a few times during the season..I could use a gimme, since my choosing players is the kiss of death for them every single fucking season.

I start Physical Therapy tomorrow..say a prayer for me please..its been over a month since I last went and I know its gonna hurt. Next week I get a cortisone shot in my back..can't wait for that sucker either..they actually put you out to give the shot..that can't be good.

Baseball....

Padres tanked as usual...the wheels are falling off the bus for the BoSawx. But the good news is Pete Gammons is back at Fenway Park. Pete had a brain aneurysm in June and is 61 friggin years old. Like Vin Scully, I do appreciate the old guys still around, we have so many brain-dead younger guys talking shit on TV about sports now. Theres a football game on in an hour..Rams vs. Texans..hey its football, and I can get horizontal..

Football..Ryan 'fuckwit' Leaf is coaching..yes, that man with the personality of a junkyard dog is coaching in West Texas college..good place for him.

Weekend Mammal Blogging..

As some of you may or may not know..I do this shit to get out of thinking up something for the weekend..if something interesting happens I will blog about it..if not..this is all you get..my friggin pets.

Top: Clyde kicking it..named after an old round ball player..for the Knicks..
Middle: Sasha the dog from hell and Bobbie..my animals are quite close. off to the far right is Leroy..a female..don't ask.
Nicky the poodle..originally she resided alone here with the ball and chain..she now has 9 additional siblings..

Maurice had ties to an Israeli mob..WTF?

This story is getting stranger and stranger..harken back to when Maurice Clarett got his walking papers at Ohio State..According to ESPN he then received his funding from an Israeli Mob named...The Jerusalem Group.

Is Mr. Clarett trying to use this newest wrinkle as a defense for why he was packing when the cops finally got his dumbass pulled over a couple weeks ago after a high speed chase?

Mo, that name might sound like a financial organization, but dude..you don't want to mess with da mob..here or in Russia or Israel..those guys just don't like getting stiffed.

Try getting a job next time..if there is a next time.

Peter King is hot for T.O..

How else to you explain that horseshit write-up he did at SI today? He was all up in T.O's ass..so far in fact, he should know what the dude had for breakfast. I hope T.O. has a simply wonderful year.on the friggin bench. I know if I draft him, he will tank just like last season..

Speaking of drafts..my first fantasy draft went ok..I had second pick out of 12..I got Peyton..and already have a trade offer for Plaxico and Mcgahee..which sucked pond scum..the guy must think I am a dipshit since I did happen to draft an RB that retired last week..oops..hey, he had decent numbers last season..I can't know EVERY friggin player out there for the love of pete.

Barroid Bonds' trainer and best bud Greg Anderson is refusing to testify against him. Anderson was told to come back Aug 28th by the judge. Why the judge didn't jail the fuckwit is beyond me..someone needs to do time for this shit..and it shouldn't be the authors of the book.

Padres lost again..like this is news right? Dodgers are still in first..this so sucks..seriously..Dodgers and Pads play each other starting monday..should be an interesting 3 days at MY house..Thank god we have two tvs, thats all I gotta say..

BoSox and Yanks play 4 at Boston starting tomorrow..Come on Sawx...give me something to cheer about.

The gNats put Soriano on waiver wire? And other sports stories of note..or not.

Not that I completely understand their reasoning but according to sportsline and SI the gNats have put Alfonso on waivers. Al has been a whiny punk about playing the outfield, then he didn't want to be traded, then he was surprized he wasn't..the dude must be a gigantic pain in the ass. I fail to see how they would get more for this yahoo now then at the trade deadline a couple weeks ago.

Al will become a Free Agent at the end of the season and he refuses to talk contract with the gNats saying they will get first dibbs on his services..how nice Alfonso...yeah..they will really try to keep you dude..wanna buy a bridge?

Our dipshit of the day goes to former NBA player Lonny Baxter. He was arrested by the Secret Service around 2 am after a report of shots fired from a vehicle near the White House. Lonny's car had spent shell casings inside the vehicle. The NBA has-been recently signed a contract to play round ball in Italy, but this might hold him up just a tad..his lawyer had this to say: "Hopefully this doesn't become a life-altering event."

In our WTF? dept..there is this story stolen from Deadspin. Its about a former male, now a female who keeps winning some cycling race somewhere.. oh, and the story is about how the runner-up was a tad butt-hurt about losing to the former male so she put a shirt on which says "100 percent pure Woman Champ" when it was picture taking time on the podium. Sour grapes anyone? Transsexuals have rights and feelings too, but I do think its a tad unfair for this huge amazonian bitch to be riding against normal sized woman, especially since she wasn't born a woman..thats my story and I am sticking to it. Click on the pic for a larger image to read the T-shirt..its quite clear it was a last minute job, and crappy at that...the chick wearing it got herself a nice three month suspension from cycling..dumb ass.

Game of Shadows authors won't give up their sources

They are well aware they could be spending some quality time in the slammer by refusing to tell the Grand Jury who gave them the GJ transcripts. Hang in there guys, fark the GJ, they can't seem to nail anyone for anything in this friggin case, when you consider the drug dealers and manufacturers got less than a year each for the love of god,.I mean really now, they didn't even have to sing for their cushy sentence's. It's total bullshit that the writers who told the world what a lying bag of batshit Barroid Bonds is, could very well do more time than the dealers or manufacturers.

This just in..the Padres still suck. And TO is a punk-ass pussy, get your overpaid, over-hyped ass out on the field TO, Jones only has so much patience I have heard and the Tuna wants you gone since the day you parked your ass in front of your locker.

Football season is here..praise jesus..I think.

I know none of you give a rats ass about the Chargers..too bad..I am writing about them anyway.

During the off-season they dumped Drew Brees. They are now hanging their hopes and dreams on Phillip Rivers..jeebus..a rookie qb..thats always a fun way to start the season.

The GM had the nads to tell CBS Sportsline, and I quote: He would be "devastated" if the Chargers don't get to the playoffs this year...

Ok..if your done laughing..here is the real punchline, from Rivers his own self: "I don't have to come in and do too much. I don't have to come in and make miraculous things happen. I just have to make big plays when they present themselves and do what they ask of me. But, first and foremost, I have to lead the guys; then everything else will take care of itself."

First off, let me say that the first sentence he utters "he doesn't have to do much"..huh? Your the qb dipshit..you have to get the ball down the field among other things.THEN..in the third sentence he states "I just have to make big plays." He is either very laid back..or just thinks its all good.

Let me say, I don't have a whole lotta hope for this season. The guy makes about as much sense when he speaks as George Bush. And we know what a bang up job he's been doing. Perhaps this double-speak bs is part of the plan..who friggin knows..I just won't be betting the Chargers to get into the SB this year when I go to Vegas next.

Weekend Mammal Blogging..

Above is Fuzzy..hey..naming cats when you have as many as I do is a major pain in the ass..
This one is Patty, the biggest freak of them all..she always looks like a deer in headlights..we think she has a hidden stash of crack somewhere in the house..The bottom pic is the oldest and youngest of my rescued ferals..from left to right: Sammy and Scooter..Scooter is a fat white bastard isn't he? Reminds me of most elected officials..sorry, had to get that in..

Sinking like a turd in a toilet bowl...

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Nimrod of the day.

8/11/2006, 3:45 p.m. CT The Associated Press

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Sometimes when nature calls, there's no time to delay, but a Kentucky man sure picked the wrong spot for a pit stop.

Michael Ray Hunter, 37, found out Wednesday night that the parking lot of the West Virginia State Police headquarters in South Charleston isn't the right spot.

Trooper J.S. Crane just happened to be walking nearby as Hunter was relieving himself.

As Crane approached, he smelled alcohol. That discovery led Crane to the pickup truck where Hunter's buddy, James Alan Richardson, 40, was checking phone messages.

During a search of the truck, Crane and another trooper found a marijuana pipe and pills for which Richardson had no prescription.

Both men were arrested for public intoxication. Hunter also is charged with indecent exposure and Richardson is charged with possessing controlled substances.

Stolen from fark.

Maurice Clarett is arrested again.

Is this man just stupid or what? After a highspeed chase police found 4 loaded guns in his vehicle. Dude..

They used mace and a stun gun to subdue his fucktarded ass, which didnt work because He was wearing a bullet-proof vest. This man is awaiting trial on two counts of aggravated robbery, four counts of robbery and one count of carrying a concealed weapon in a separate case.

This man, a mere 22 years, old is our Fucktard of the Week. He's lucky is isn't winning the damn "Darwin Award'.(you have to die to win that one folks.)

For those of you unfamiliar with Mo..he was a shining star for all of one season at Ohio State. He scored the winning touchdown that locked up the Championship for OSU in 2003. Now he is just a number in the penal system in the State of Ohio. Ah Mo, we barely knew ye dude..

Fuckwit child and her parents responsible for deaths of meerkat family.

A 9 year old kid climbed over a barrier,plexi-glass and hung into the caged display area of a MN zoo and was biten by one of the animals. State law requires that wild animals be killed to make sure they do no have rabies when individuals refuse to receive the series of painful shots required to prevent rabies. The entire family of three babies and both parents had to be euthanized..

It should be noted that the animals were given rabies shots regularly and the autopsy showed they did not have rabies.

What else should be noted that this kid's parents were not doing their job when their fuckwit of a child decided to climb over and into a cage of wild animals. I mean..wtf were they doing? watching her? scratching their ass's? picking nits off each other?

If it had been my child, I would of snatched the lil crum-cruncher bald before he got to the top of the enclosure. How do parents let kids do whatever they want, even when it puts the kid in harms way? Making your child behave in a public setting is not child abuse. Letting them do stupid, dangerous things in a public setting is, in my opinion child neglect. And then, to refuse the shots and allow the animals to be killed..its just friggin wrong! I say we smack the living shit out of those parents..hitting the kid of course is illegal, but I would go to jail for smacking the mother and father in a heart beat..the story should you wish to read it is here.

I am cranky and hurting. I saw a lawyer and found out he can not help at this point in the process. I am at my wits end and very tired of being in pain 24/7..its hard to be funny when you hurt. Its harder to not take a gun and go postal at the local workers compensation department. I am not demanding money for my injury. I just want to live pain-free..like I did for the most part before I worked my ass off for this merry band of fucktards.

Blues under the stars

It was a fine evening for music in the moonlight. Blues music to be specific. The second annual B-Town Blues festival was a wonderful event. They had four local bands..whom I missed. Sorry, but I couldn't physically sit for over 6 hours of music. The main event was none other than:

JOE BONAMASSA

Yes, I know..I am over the top in my love of his music.Sorry, the girl cant help it...he's that good. Charlie Musslewhite was the co-headliner. I heart his music too. He's a grizzley old white guy that sure can play a harmonica. Charlie warmed up the crowd for Joe. Joe hit the stage just as the sunset.

It helped my mind relax and unwind from a month's worth of living..it wasn't hot, which if you know this area..was like a gift from god. I had a table all to myself, and a perfect view of the stage from roughly 50 yards back. And I got to talk to Joe's girlfriend after the concert ended, she is such a sweet lady. A smile that just warms your heart. She always stops to talk and catchup.

I bought the prerequisite Tshirt..black of course. I got Joe to sign it. yes, I am such a starfucking groupie.Sue me..

His new album came out..gasp..6/6/6. It rocks and rolls. If he's coming to your town check him out. He plays forever, doesn't charge an arm and a leg for merchandise or tix's..he will sit and talk a spell to anyone, and his makes that guitar cry like a baby...

Saturday Mammal Blogging..

Ok..if you read professional, paid bloggers..they all do some kind of lame-ass animal, plant or god knows what else type of blogging on Fridays.

I am not a follower..nope..ok, maybe I do follow on occasion, but I digress.

I will do Saturday Pet blogging..cuz I have dogs and cats ..everyone gets equal time..I have to be fair, beleive me they know if I am not. I just remembered however, that I lost all my pet pics when the ol Toshiba blew a muthaboard. Besides..no one reads blogs on Saturday..everyone reads them at work when they play fuck around.

And I can look at a pic of Baby for the first time and not cry..

Yes, I know the Pelican isn't a Pet. But he was gracious and let me take like 20 pics of him..THIS CLOSE!

And I am glad I still have this pic of Bobby and my leopard print bra-strap..One can not leave this earth without a semi-naked pic on the internet. Not that I am leaving anytime soon. just saying..

Senate passes its version of the PETS act.

As I have blogged about on numerous occasions, the Humane Society had a bill introduced that would protect pets and service animals during an evacuation. ..its version of the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act. The bill would make it law to evacuate pets and service animals if a disaster took place that required human evacuations.

Both the House and the Senate passed their versions unanimously. The Senate bill has more protections and provisions for animals. The Humane Society is pleased with both versions but of course would like to see the Senate version become law.

If you would like to help the cause or just read more about it, the link to the Humane Society writeup is here.

I just hope we don't have a major hurricane between now and when congress goes back into session in September.

Do we ever get a break from LIFE?

Methinks not. I think there is always something that changes our course of action..something out of the blue that we least expect.

The last of my original feral cats is gone..she left me six newborn kittens. I already HAVE six from her previous litters..and these were less than a week old..most likely only a day or two. The vet said it would be so hard to keep them alive. The feedings every couple of hours..the rubbing and caressing to get them to potty after you feed them..six of them.

The ball and chain took them to the SPCA. After I spent 24 horrific hours trying to keep them alive. I heart him for doing the dirty deed. I would of fallen apart..literally and figuratively. I know in my heart she didn't abandon them..something happened to her. She had been here almost three years..the last of 8 that all showed up within weeks of each other in the backyard. One by one, they all disappeared. They quit living here for whatever reason...most likely a dog or a car or a cat-trap waylaid them..

I still have a couple of abandoned adults to care for in my yard. But I do not love them as I loved the one-eyed Jackie. She came into my backyard as a small, wary, scared kitten. She never had to go without food, she never had to dumpster-dive or catch sparrows for her dinner, I always provided that and water. And a little convo when she wanted to sit..a few feet away, listening and watching me. She was as wild and untrusting as they come. But, she always came when she heard me call her name. No matter where she was in the neighborhood, she would come running. They all did. What feral cat in their right mind wouldn't? I gave them steak and chicken and hamburger when I cleaned out the fridge every week, on top of the dry cat food always available.

And I still have her six kittens that are not feral any longer, they are house cats now. They were taken from her when they were young and sick..or just young. Only the last one looks like her...an exact image of her. When I look at Sammy I think of Jackie now. And I know at least Jackie isn't scared and untrusting now. She can watch the birds all day without fear of dogs or neighbors that try to poison her. She can lay in the sun and relax.

I thank her for her gifts she left me during our relationship, her six kittens now growing up. Her little gifts that give me so much love. Feral cats are so much more loving than domestic cats. I swear this is true.. Its almost like they know I saved them, and they will always love me for it. Even when I cuss them for knocking everything off a shelf, or laying on a counter where they are never allowed to be, I love them and they know it. They hold no grudges and they always want my undivided attention. They trail behind me as I walk through the house, never wanting to be in a room where I am not. They lounge at my feet when I attack my keyboard, grousing for the closest spot. When I go to bed, they all have their places. And all those purrs are deafening in the quiet darkness. A symphony of purrs to lull me to sleep.

Thank you Jackie..my little one-eyed Jackal. You made life so much more interesting just by being here for so short a time. :You will be missed.

From our WTF? dept...

I can think of many more interesting ways to spend my time than putting Mentos into a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke. But, evidently thousands, if not millions of yahoo's are doing this lately. There are blogs about it..lol. There is even some jackass that that has a science site, Steve Spangler, who has devoted hundreds of hours to this phenomena and swears he has done it a thousand times. For the love of god dude..get a girlfriend will ya? NPR(national public radio) has devoted a whole page to it on their website, complete with videos and sound..And the final straw for moi..this dippy trick has it's own friggin website..fuck me,someone is paying for a website for this? ..too many people with too much time on their hands.

And you know, some jackass has tried this personally..as in he drinks the soda and eats some mentos..god help him..it can't be pretty, not to mention possibly very painful.
