Ah - don't be so hard on Wells - he's got something left and I hope it doesn't unleash itself on my Mets in the playoffs...or the Dodgers for that matter...I've got a friend from S. California, so the Dodgers have become a favorite of mine over the years, but I've got the Sox and Mets at the top of my list always.
I LOVE this trade...like Matt Cassell to Brady, Varitek needs a top notch understudy to take the reigns once he's gone. Can't get by with a free agent catcher once Tek is gone...we need a kid there to pick his brain.
Catcher is the QB of a baseball team, just as important in my opinion. Brilliant deal for Theo.
I hope he realized though that letting Damon sign somewhere else was STUPID...Coco is a 'B' player, Damon is a gamer...very very dumb letting him go to the Yankees. We're not going to beat them without spending money.

Several articles have suggested Theo fucked up this year on moves Al...and I do agree it was felony dumb to let Damon leave.
Not Theo's fault there...Luccino had to be pushed aside and the only way that could happen was how it did. Damon could have made the difference this year.
