Only thing your getting this weekend out of moi.

I have to go to work. I am tired and tired of working non-stop. So I will leave you something to ponder. Its from a rant I put up on my political blog:

As John Kerry so eloquently put it whilst talking about the bible and our current crop of elected officials:"I will tell you, nowhere in there, nowhere, not one page, not one phrase uttered and reported by the Lord Jesus Christ, can you find anything that suggests that there is a virtue in cutting children from Medicaid and taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich"

Ok..I have a post script..then I am off to bed. I live in a poor neighborhood because its real and I am more comfortable here than in a upscale one. Does that make me a hypocrite? I think it means life at this level is more about making it to the next day and not about what you wear, drive or who you vote for.

Finally someone who actually KNOWS what he's talkin about! Sad state of affairs...as usual with this administration. Deliver us from the anti-christ in office. He uses Christianity as his cover for his evil doings...at least that's my opinion :)

Kerry is coming around to make another bid for the big job I think. Frankly, I don't care if its Kerry or Feingold, or Gore..I just want someone that has compassion for those less fortunate and doesn't think the whole fucking world has to be like us.

We do need someone to help not just bridge the gap, but fill the gap between rich and poor.

I would love to see Kerry run again. I had the opportunity to meet him in 04 and I really liked him. I love rich people who still care about the less fortunate. I wish everyone could be like him, because the world would be a much better place. In a side note: U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy is very much the same way. Is it still early to toss his name out? He'd be an amazing president.

Why would you worry about what neighborhood you live in, as far as the neighborhood's economic status?

We live in a 1500 square foot house on a cul de sac in a middle class neighborhood of houses with values of about $100,000 (which is around the median house price for our area, good housing is cheap here in Indiana). We are not struggling by any stretch, but we are not "livin' large" either.

A lot of my kids' friends or our friends live in upscale suburban areas and housing developments with 2500 square foot or larger houses, yet these kids' parents marvel at all of the kids that play outside in our neighborhood, because our neighborhood is older (30-40 years old) and the houses are a bit closer together, people get to know each other, whether they want to or not. These parents marvel at how comfortable our house is and how it is well decorated and not so 'spread out' as their houses are.

As long as you are comfortable where you live, that is all that matters. I refuse to become 'housing poor' with a mortgage that eats up my entire paycheck.

Smaller houses breed closer families, everyone can't escape to a different end of the house to get away from each other.

I don't worry about my neighborhood, but I do worry about my neighbors. They are old or poor and many times both. Some of their troubles of course are self-inflicted but that doesn't change the fact that this county allows owners to subdivide properties for more income without adding basic services such as sidewalks, gutters or parking. They do however require all those things in the higher-end neighborhoods.

Gee... that sounds just like me, seriously.

Wow, I love the new look. I wish I could steal it.
Anyway, I'm poor, will probably always be poor, and am just fine with it. If for some reason, I find myself holding the winning ticket, I doubt I would change much. I like where I live for now. My kiddo and her friend used to do respect knuckles and say "Power to the Po' Folk"!
Gotta love it!

dusty, somehow i think we find where we need to be. if you were to see the blogs i read regularly (and i'm pretty sure you do, i see you there, too), i am pretty sure we would all get along well in real life. laid back (i think, except jenn who is sort of high strung), not taking this life (or ourselves) overly serious and tolerant (except rat, the nazi).
anyway, i am like you - i prefer to live in a real world instead of the pretenious one of some friends. although an overseas vacation would be pretty cool....hahaha
