Baby has left the building, she is riding w/Elvis in his convertable now.

So, we will show her in happier times with my son, who loved her as much as I did. I will reprint something I wrote on her for an HNT (half-hekked thursday) post below. I love you Baby, and you can run and play now ol' girl and it doesn't hurt and those damn cats won't fuck w/you now.

Hey, I didn't name her. Actually she's snoring...LOUD. But I love her. She's the sweetest girl around, I swear. She hates loud noises and shakes for hours when a car backfires. She has the biggest brown eyes you have ever seen and you have to just love a dog that smiles..Baby smiles. She gets along with every one and every animal.

Why someone would throw away a dog like Baby just blows my fucking mind. But...I am glad they did..cuz I got her. She was cowering underneath my house around my birthday four years ago. When we found her owners they said we could keep her, which we were gonna do anyway since they were crackheads. They wanted a full pit..Baby is half lab/pitt...they wanted something mean.

Shes old..and I only wish I had known her sooner...shes so sweet, my Baby. She is the lovingest dog I have ever had the pleasure to live with..the time was just too damn short.

{{hug}} Saying good bye is the hardest goddamn thing we ever have to do in this world. You gave her a wonderful home and life. Hold onto that. Sending you giant virtual hugs (and a matching bottle of vodka.)

Many Many Hugs (((( )))) and much love my dear cyber friend....Baby was so blessed to live with you , that you found her and her soulful eyes and beautiful smile under YOUR porch says it all- she chose You- she KNEW that you were meant to be her Home....I like to picture her riding with Elvis Now- hanging out the Window looking for an ice cream stand and listening to the radio...and when you get to heaven many years from now you know she will be waiting for you, full of wags and smiles for you.....namaste.

She and Max are now running in the Elysian Fields, driving everyone nuts, just like they did here. :p

Words cannot express my sorrow, Boo. I know it's easy for me to say this, but try and think of the good times you had with her. That's what I did with Max. Sending you all my love...

I'm sorry to hear about Baby...she looked so happy in that pic. This is the worst part about loving any creature (it doesn't hurt less because it's a dog...it hurts that same as it would if someone else had died...she's a part of your family)...may you both be at peace.

I'm so sorry about your baby. Was she sick or something?

Animals do not exhibit symptons until its many times to late to deal with them Stilt. She evidently had cancer that had metastasized and was raging throughout her body, primarily her lungs. This all became noticeable about 10 days ago. The doctors tried to treat her w/antibiotics and various other drugs. When they did not work, they took xrays and found she was too far gone to fix. They said as long as she was comfortable and not in pain she was ok. This weekend she became worse and couldn't breathe. When we took her in yesterday, her gums were blue and it was obvious she was now suffering. I had to do the only thing possible..end her suffering. It just means I am left to deal with the pain of missing her and wondering if I did all I could to give her a good life.

BIG HUG FOR DUSTY.... I won't even tell you what I would do for your son in his time of crisis...

I'm glad to hear that Baby is no longer suffering. Glad you were good to her.

XOXO to BABY!

Hugs and more hugs to you. I'm very sorry that you had to let her go to Elvis. But I'm sure he will take good care of her. I bet she is chewing on one of his blue suede shoes.

Dusty,

I read about your dog over at John's Left in Aboite. I am extremely sorry for your loss. We had to put our beloved dark chocolate lab a little over a year ago and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. We knew it was the best thing for Xander, but it was the selfish part of us that kept us from doing it sooner.

I am happy to say that we now have a beautiful Shepard/Chow mix that had been rescued from a porch in New Orleans after Katrina. We were able to sort of replace Xander in our home (though not yet in our heart) and do something good for a dog who needed a good home.

I suppose I should mention we called Xander a dark chocolate lab because his mommy was a black lab and his daddy was a chocolate lab.

Dusty, I just found out you care so much for dogs. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. We're just big on pets. We have two dogs, a 5 year old (light red) female Siberian Husky, Sasha and a 4 month old female, Black Lab/?mix, Nibbles. Nibbles really belongs to our Grand Daughter but she lives here with us. If our Grand Daughter ever takes her we'll have to get Sasha another puppy. She loves her as much as we do. We also have 7 cats, Kanga, Kit,
Latisha, Mister, Randy, Ruby and Dot. Just like our kids sometimes they piss us off, but we'd hate to lose one. You might be interested in my Daughters web site, www.odnarb.com . She works for a Vet. in Portland, Org. and trains dogs in her spare time. Anything from simple obedience to security/protection. Gets into French Ring Sport. Once again I want to say I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
