You know what's gonna happen now, dontcha? ESPN, FOX et al will spend 99.9% of their baseball talk on this, just like last night. As much as I loathe Steve Lyons, he was the one person yesterday that was continually giving the Tigers their due, while Brennaman kept pumping up the Yankees. And last night on BBTN, it was all about A-Rod and his failures.
Yeah, its like a slow news day and they run this shit into the ground B..like TO, Bonds, A-Rod..My eyes glaze over after the first 5 friggin minutes.
The problem with the Yankees is they're cheap as hell...never willing to outspend the competition.
Torre, Cashman and AROD should be gone...Detroit crops Verlander, Bonderman and picks up Rogers (someone the Yanks wouldn't sniff at), and here Cashman is collecting baseball cards...result is a poor defensive team, 50 million wasted on arms that suck or don't work at all, and the morale of a young trust-fund event once the coke is all used up.
I hope Girardi gets a good job. The Cubbies aren't a good club. The owners refuse to deal with the realities of the modern day club. There is talk that Joe will be going to the Cubs but I think the Yanks might be a good fit for him. Lou Pinella has the emotional makeup to run the yanks the way Steinbrenner thinks they should be run. To him, players are employees and in reality thats what they are. Very well paid ones that play a child's game.
Detroit acted like they won pennant or the series, I was happy for them.
But then I watched the Dodger game.
To them it was just as good..it was great John.
