If your a fan of Indie films, this is a nice site.

I recognize most of the movies on their top fifty list. I love Independant films. If you do as well, the link to Empires 50 Greatest Indie Films is here.

Shallow Grave is an excellent film. If you've never seen it, check it out. Numbers 1, 4, and 8 on the list are great picks, too.

Awesome site! I actually didn't even know that some of those were indie films (I just happened to own them).

A few of my personal faves:

Run Lola Run
Mad Max
Two Lane Blacktop
THX-1138
Dark Star
Nosferatu
Usual Suspects
Blair Witch

I love Usual Suspects and Mad Max too. Being an Indie doesnt always mean its obvious aka cheaply made on a shoestring budget.

DUSTY RULES!

I count only 5 that I have not seen. I question the ranking. I don't know the criteria, but it is still suspect. Darko no. 2? Uh, tap the breaks on the greatness of that film.

And there was some early work by Albert Brooks that was left off. What? Indie cannot laugh?

And some of these are foreign no? Run Lola Run? Does foreign qualify? If so, I can think of many others. Man Bites Dog is not there..why not???

IMDB has a more comprhensive list, and doesn't have Darko ranked so high.

Thanks, bruse. I loked at that list and it confises me. I really am not sure what is "Indie". I guess it is anything from a non-big studio? The IMDB list had many that I would really think of as indie. I guess that I have a veiw of indie as more outside or alternative.

What do you guys think?

Good list, however I am a bit dissapointed that 'Pi' wasn't on the list at all. That's my fav. indie movie fo sho.

I checked this morning in hopes of seeing a HNT foot picture.

El Mariachi was a lot better than a lot of those films, certainly much better than Mad Max, Sideways, and THX-1138,. I hated those movies.

I really liked Lone Star.
