Feds refile indictment against Bonds...

Surely Barroid didn't think they were going to forget about him? From a yahoo writeup:

Federal prosecutors have unveiled a revamped indictment against Barry Bonds, but the career home run leader's lawyers say nothing has changed.

"Barry Bonds is innocent," the player's lead attorney, Allen Ruby, said after his client was once again charged with lying to a grand jury and hampering the federal government's doping investigation.

Bonds originally was indicted in November by a federal grand jury on four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice.

On Tuesday, a grand jury handed up a superseding indictment charging him with 14 counts of making false declarations to a grand jury in 2003 and one count of obstruction of justice. No new lies were alleged.

The feds, being morons themselves, fucked up the original filing. Figures..

Yo Barry..a job offer dude!!

My Padres Class A affiliate, the Lake Elsinore Storm, has offered Barroid the following job:

The Lake Elsinore Storm, a Class-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, released a tongue-in-cheek statement announcing that the club has offered Bonds "a cushy Media Relations position (with slight pay cut from $19.3 million), full use of baseball facilities and of course expanded cubicle space with barcalounger and plasma TV."

Somehow, I don't see Mr. Steroid taking this job..does anyone else? ;)

Judge orders Bonds grand jury testimony unsealed..

You can read the testimony here. (pdf) The same judge also told the federal prosecutors to redraft their error-laden indictment. Per ESPN:

Among other information contained in the unsealed 149-page court transcript is evidence of an additional positive steroids test beyond the previously reported one in November 2000, sources familiar with the government's evidence told ESPN's T.J. Quinn.
The U.S. Attorney's office had previously disclosed that Bonds tested positive for testosterone, but information about other failed tests has not been previously disclosed.
U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston ordered prosecutors to amend Bonds' indictment so that each of the five counts against him don't cite multiple statements that prosecutors say are false.

Prosecutors originally accused Bonds of lying 19 different times during his grand jury appearance, and charged him with four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice.

Illston agreed with Bonds' attorney Dennis Riordan that prosecutors must edit out many of the alleged lies or seek a new indictment, which could contain more charges.

I still don't understand why Bonds had the audacity to lie if there are in fact failed steroid tests..I mean come on..its a no-friggin-brainer!

Et tu Barry?

Could Barroid Bonds expect this length of sentence if and when he is convicted of lying to federal investigators over the same BalCo investigation as Ms. Jones?

The former Olympic track gold medalist was sentenced to six months in prison Friday for lying to investigators about using performance-enhancing drugs and her role in a check-fraud scam.

The money quote from maid Marion: "I ask you to be as merciful as a human being can be,"

Judge could of gave her longer. From Da Judge: He said Jones damaged two federal investigations with lies that came years apart, so "I don't think the criminal conduct can be written off as a momentary lapse of judgment or a one-time mistake, but instead a repetition of an attempt to break the law."

Sucks to be you Ms. Jones...hopefully Barroid was paying attention.

Bonds attorneys might have conflict of interest

Not that it breaks my lil black heart one damn bit, but there it is:

The judge called the hearing to decide whether the lawyers can still work for Bonds even though they previously represented other athletes who testified in the government's investigation into performance-enhancing drugs.
*snip*

In court papers made public Thursday, federal prosecutors identified Bonds' new attorney, Cris Arguedas, as having represented disgraced track star Tim Montgomery and football players Chris Cooper, Chris Hetherington and Tyrone Wheatley, all of whom testified before the grand jury.

In addition, lead attorney Allan Ruby represented Bonds' personal surgeon, Dr. Arthur Ting, when he was called before a grand jury.

"Dr. Ting is likely to be a witness for the government at trial," the government's court filing stated.

Poor Barroid..he just can't catch a break can he? tsk..tsk..

Barroid pleads not guilty..

I am sure no one expected him to come clean..but like Marion he will be brought down as long as the Federal Prosecutor's have done their fucking homework. From Sportsline:

Barry Bonds let one of his six lawyers say the words: "Not guilty." No courtroom drama, no surprises. Flanked by an entourage of lawyers and family members, baseball's home run king smiled, waved and made eye contact with fans Friday as he made his first court appearance since being charged with lying under oath about using steroids. Bonds' new lawyer entered a not guilty plea in U.S. District Court to the four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice contained in the Nov. 15 indictment. Afterward, defense attorney Allen Ruby didn't waste any time, saying he would soon ask a judge to toss out the case because of "defects" in the indictment. He declined to elaborate. If convicted, legal experts say Bonds could spend up to 2½ years in prison.

Interesting Bonds didn't say the words..his flunkies did.

Barroid Bonds throws a hissy fit.

Keith Olbermann has an interesting piece on his nightly news show this evening. Barroid is highly pissed about his homerun ball being marked with an asterisk.

He has now stated that 'when' he is inducted into the HOF, he will most likely not attend the ceremony if the Hall puts 'that ball' on display.

Oh fuck you dude..you and your shrunken testes. From the writeup linked above:

Barry Bonds said in an interview to be aired on Countdown with Keith Olbermann that he will boycott baseball's Hall of Fame if it decides to display his record-breaking home run ball with an asterisk.

The free-agent slugger told Jim Gray: "I don't think you can put an asterisk in the game of baseball and I don't think that the Hall of Fame can accept an asterisk in their Hall of Fame. You can't, you cannot give people the freedom, the right to alter history, you can't do it. There's no such thing as an asterisk in baseball."

Well Barroid, I got one thing to say; HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..fuck you jackass, long and hard and with a double-edged sword. I love the irony here..and there is still the possibility that Barroid won't be inducted into the HOF anyway..so he just might be jumping the gun here.

amazing...

Baseball..we have baseball this week.

Barroid Bonds won't be playing in the first spring training game..this is a shocker, I know..

Manny Ramirez arrived three days early, instead of his usual 3 days late to camp..THAT IS A SHOCKER!

And Donald Fehr and his minions will offer advice to players regarding the George Mitchell steroid investigation..but its up to each player whether or not they want to cooperate.

Last week is over..thank you Jesus..the body is trying to get back into action after being used as a pin cushion for my own version of hell via cortisone shots by the 'pain management doctor'..lol..he doesn't manage shit but he knows how to hurt ya..you know what I mean?

Let the baseball games begin..Cause I really need a friggin diversion folks :)

Pitchers start reporting Tuesday..

Its here..sort of. Baseball is getting ready to bloom, hope springs eternal..and Barroid still hasn't signed his contract.

I like that last part. I hope that pompous bag of batshit never signs with a team. Barroid Bonds can kiss my ass..twice even.

The Padres hired a fucking pitching coach as their Manager..oh man..doesn't that just say "WE are Committed to great baseball in San Diego?"

I didn't think so either.

At least there is still time to think things will work out for my Padres..A girl can dream can't she?
